In SHIII and IV in order to have the gun crew they had to be at battlestations. For them to stand down battlestations was shut down. I would assume that it would be similar in SH5, but I could be wrong.

how do u move the free camera forward and back? i can go up and down.

Use wasd to move the free camera about, and hit esc or use the red cross top right corner to get out of the gun position, or any view for that matter.
My problem is after I tell the watch officer to man the deck gun, I cant figure out how to un man it. Im talking about AI crew, not the player.

F5 toggles the deck gun crew. But I have found that it doesn't always work. A bug maybe?
