well, yeah, my first post here, and of course i come with a problem.
I bought WW yesterday and was pretty ecited. However, my excitement cam to a sudden stop and changed to annoyance when i tried to get the cutscenes to play right.
I tired several solution s from these forums, none of which worked.
    Any one have any ideas?
I double checked my system and it meets all the requiremtns.

The reason for choppy videos depends on a number of factors. Windows 98 has issues with some newer versions of the binkw32.dll renderer. A slightly older binkw32.dll usually works. If you're an avid gamer, search the folders of an older game to see if it uses a binkw32.dll file. If so, rename the one in the PoP:WW folder, and copy the other one over. Depending on how old the "other" file is, it may work, or it may not.

Also, your motherboard AGP driver may not be setup properly. As a result, the system thinks your spiffy new 8x AGP video card is a lowly, bus hogging PCI model. Motherboards based on VIA and Nvidia chipsets are notorious for this. Installing the relevant drivers usually fixes the problem. Consequently, the mobo drivers may also fix hard drive UltraDMA issues. If your drive is configured to run in PIO mode (bad) instead of UDMA (good), the video stream will hog the bus and cause CPU utilization to skyrocket, resulting in choppy video.

BTW, PoP:WW is not the only game with this issue. Most games that use Bink video exhibit the exact same problems. Go here to see how the Painkiller community has resolved it.

Hopefully this will get some folks on the right track to fixing their problems.

well, as a matter of fact, my graphics card is a pci card,
nvidia fx 5200 pci to be exact.
I hope it being a pci card doesn;t aucse this problem.
I tired all those solutions and some from the painkiller forum and nothing's helped so far.
But thanks for your help and time anyway.

The FX5200 PCI is a "budget" card, but it should be able run PoP:WW just fine. In addition to making sure all of your drivers are up to date, you may want to try the NonPow2Textures=1 trick mentioned here in the forums. Goto your PoP:WW game folder and open hardware.ini in a text editor. Search for NonPow2Textures= a make sure it's set to 1. Save file and see if it fixes it. Some folks have also said that disabling the subtitles may help.

If you're using an AC97 sound chip (CMedia 9738, Realtek, SoundMax, etc.), turning down hardware acceleration via DXDIAG may provide some relief. From Microsoft Support:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.

3. On the Sound tab, in the DirectX Features section, change the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to Basic acceleration.

4. Click Exit.[/list]

    Hope this helps.

hm, i tried both those things and still no affect,
but once again, thanks for your help anyway.

Btw, i downloaded blink so i could watch the movies out of game and see the visuals and that didn;t work either, it opens the files in bink, but then it doesn;t play them and says they aren;t bink files.
Any ideas how to resolve that one?
