Thread: What would be the best combinations of mods ? | Forums

  1. #1
I tried a few mods and...for my taste they have something I like much ...but they have things I don't like...
I saw that game fix mod but...the mod is compact so I couldn't choose what to keep and what not and I'm not a modder to be able to "see" what those files do and select accordingly.Well, at least it's good there is a text file about every mod involved.
In your opinion what would be , for you, the best combination of mods ?

It's such an individual choice, but for me, I can't imagine playing this game without TMO and OM. I also can't imagine playing OM without using one of the German speech mods.

It is a matter of personel choice, I do not have any "super MOD's" ( TMO, OP MONSOON, RFB, RSRD so on )installed (YET ), but I do run alot of single MOD's.

I agreed it's a matter of choice,by all means.Say a few things ...WHY you like your choice. For instance...for me graphic quality is important (of course , I can't play a dumb game just because it looks great, so don't get me wrong)...without it...I lose that mood for playing it, if you know what I mean. When I play a game/mod , the first thing I do is looking in detail at its graphics and discover little things/details, touches etc.I gave here an example.Maybe for you ...something else is primordial, maybe something else "turns you on".

I like to keep it simple . I run TMO or RFB with RSRD, my Kraken skin, TMOkeys and TMOplot if I'm running RFB, the 3000 yard/meter bearing plotter, a little mod to put the message bar on the bottom of the page without having to move it myself and that's about it.

I don't run any environmental mods because they interfere with gameplay and never in a good way. RFB has parts of one built into it.

Since ROW features were incorporated into SH4UBM it's been a pretty attractive game stock. After a long time flirtation with every environmental mod there is, I've settled down to a keep it simple strategy that limits the number mods I run and keeps mod soup to a minimum.

OK, I use most of Webster's great mini MOD's ( fix's), skin's, I use a mod that add's 11 more ship's to the long list of sinkables and adds AA armament fix's, I use a mod to correct the aircraft because I thought there were too many (and there are), a four blade prop fix for the stock 3 blade ( although the stock looks better), radar screen mod, a new Hi Def Hud mod, a mod that add's U-Boat and American missions, garamaphone MOD, Radio MOD.........and on, and on......LOL

so as you can see, I use a variety (for now)and stay away from the big MOD's.

I do this so I can get the game the way I want it, not just play the way a MOD wants me too play.

I have over 60 MOD's in a file, along with the BIG one's and the game fixer's.

What I would sugest is go through the sites and read about them, and while you play the game, write down what bug's you. Read threads about each one, and see if it appeals to you.

Enviroment mods don't interfere with your game unless you're stacking mods that conflict. All the supermods include an Env. mod anyway.

I'm a TMO fan. Check the sticky at the top. TMO1.7 includes Env.5. Most of the Supermods are a combo of many smaller mods tweaked.

I also prefer RSRDC, it just places historical battles and convoys much better than stock.

There are many smaller mods you can add, but until you get use to mods, I would just load TMO1.7, play that and go from there.

Real Env. is the newest env mod and works great with the fog fix. I run it with TMO without any problems, but the env mod in TMO is almost as good. Either one will improve your grahics 100%.
