Sony DRU-830A cannot read disc | Forums

I think a few other people have reported this problem.

I bought the game and, at the time, I had my new DRU-830A installed. The installer reported errors reading the disc. I thought the CD was bad and was prepared to return it when I decided to try my other drive (a LG 4082B).

The LG installed and plays the game fine. But now the drive has gone bad (it's very old, the reason why I changed it) and I'm stuck with the Sony.

Any idea of how to get the Sony to work with this CD? The firmware is updated (S225) and all drivers are fine. The drive just cannot read the CD. The autorun crashes with a read error. All other CDs I've tried worked.

I have a cheap Sony AD 7190A in one system and it works fine. (Paid $21.99 . free shipping)

What doesn't work, are my SATA DVD drives.
Ubisoft's protection software prevents SATA drives from reading the disk.
