I really hope they get the sound right in this game. Great sound effects will have the biggest impact on getting the atmosphere just right. After watching the 'Authenticity Video' it was clear that firing a rifle is a loud and physical experience, however the game clips sounded like pellet guns leaving me a little dissapointed.

I know a lot has gone into the graphics and getting the 'details' correct, I just hope gearbox dont let us down with regards to sound.

Do you think the sound is taking a back seat?

Considering how much money they payed for the orchestral score, sound isn't taking a back seat.

There's a difference between the sound of a gun in an indoor shooting range, and an outdoor battle.

Yeah , those are recorded gun shot sounds, then they have been tweaked to sound right in the game.

If you listen to real weapon sounds then games like MoH, CoD etc etc and then BiA, BiA by far has the most impressive weapon sounds

Lol sorry for the image , was just trying to do something

Now that is a really good point, but the difference is not that much, especially if you are the one firing. But yeah point taken, its not totally fair to compare an indoor shot to an outdoor one.

Forgive my ingorance but I'm not aware of the orchestra cost, how much did they pay? Aside from the music however I was refering to the ingame sound effects - the guns specifically (this is a war game after all).

Indeed this is what I understand also. If this is true though why do the guns sound so weak in comparison to the real thing? It may simply be the way the clips where edited to make the video. It is hard not to notice the difference when it appears in a promotional video showcasing the Authenticity of the game.

I do not agree, i dont think the guns sound weak in comparison to the real thing, not easy to get em spot on, and as someone said they sound different when fired in and outdoors.
