Hello,

Would it work if I put a Radeon 9800 to my current computer, which is

Athlon 1.4 Thunderbird
Abit KG7-Lite
512 DDR memory
Ati Radeon 64 Mb ViVo
300W Power supply

I'm thinking about upgrading memory to 1 GigaHz, but otherwise I wouldn't want to buy totally new mobo and other parts. FB is playing fine right now, but I would like to see better all the "Eye Candy".

What do you think?

Sure it will work, why not? Only abilities of 9800 will be limited by CPU and 4X AGP. Just my o2c. Power supply kinda on the border too IMO.

Ok, thanks for your quick replies.

So do you think I should change the power supply also, if I buy the 9800?

I had power outtages with 9700PRO on my old 300W PSU.. Now running 460W Enermax and never looked back lol.

I`d suggest at least 350W...But 400 is better. They relatively cheap nowdays, nice 400W Antec with dual fan you can get for like 50-60 bucks or so. By the way is that PRO or non PRO card that you buying?

V!

Well, I guess going for the best means taking the PRO-version, so maybe next year I can upgrade the whole system and will not be sorry taking the second best

Guess I'll have to stretch the wallet still for the power supply now.

It is not neccessary that i am correct on PSU mate, maybe others have different opinions. But if you are talking upgrade next year...might as well get PSU now.. something like this: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=270017 very nice bang for a buck
