Thread: SHIII No Joy | Forums

  1. #1
I was pretty excited about getting SHIII after a friend told me about it. I saw it on sale and picked it up for a good price at Best Buy.

I installed the game and the information screen said my PC had all the resources needed to run it. Interestingly I was not asked at any point to enter any CD key codes nor is there one on the red CD.

So, I thought all was installed and I was good to go. I fire up the game and there is an error right off the mark telling me to put my CD in the DVD drive. It was there. I cannot get past this point to make the game run. No Joy for SHIII

    Good morning,
I would consider un-installing, and asking for an exchange as the DVD may be faulty. I was asked for the cd key upon installing, and each time I play, my pc verifies the DVD before starting up. Is this a geniune copy? If it was purchased at a discount - absolutely not your fault in any way. Call the people you purchased this from and ask if they could kindly exchange it for you.
    regards, and good luck

I purchased it from Best Buy so I would expect it to be a genuine copy. If I cannot get it to run I will take it back and ask for an exchange. Disappointing because I was really looking forward to this game.

rb, it's strange you weren't asked for the key.

And, the install key code is located inside the case above the disc, not on it. You can't miss it unless it's a used copy of the game and someone has taken it off the case.

Definately take it back for another.... but this time open it up right there in the store to verify the key code is there. It might save you a trip back again.

There is a six digit code right above the disk inside the case but the weird thing is that I was never asked for it during the install.

This might be a StarForce DVD protection bug, that is rectifiable. What was the exact error message you received?

From the data file created when I try to run the game I get:

    [Error Information]
    3.4.71.19; 3102; ES:190,190,1C2,80000011,0

The actual message on the screen says something like "No disc found, replace disc in DVD drive"

First, follow the advice and links here to update your StarForce drivers and to check some other possibilities out.

If that doesn't help, you'll have to be very exact with the text of the error message you're getting.

UPDATE: This is the error you're getting:

    3102

    Example:
    [Error Information]
    3.4.50.1; 3102; ES:100,102,0

    Description:
The protection system cannot find the disc in the drive or it is inaccessible.

    Possible solution:

Make sure that the disc data can be viewed in the Windows Explorer.
Close all programs that may perform direct access to the disc drives.
If you have problems with a product distributed on several discs, make sure that the right disc is in the drive.

Again, try installing the latest SF drivers from here, reboot and try starting SH3 again.

Ok. I reinstalled SHIII after updating the StarForce software. Now I am getting the request for a disc key but when I enter the numbers attached to the label inside the box it says I am entering an incorrect key. This is the hardest game to install I have ever seen.
