Thread: Prince of Persia The Two Thrones and Windows 7 | Forums

  1. #1
Hello. My problem is that I can't run this game on my Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit). When I installed it, I was asked to restart my computer. After this, a message appeared. It says that StarForce Protection driver has been blocked due to incompatibility with my Windows 7 OS. The game is original, I bought it about 2-3 years ago. What is solution of my problem? Updating of StarForce Protection driver downloaded from StarForce website doesn't work. Please, help me! Maybe some patch or something is available? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I think this is a Known Issue with POP:Two Thrones, and only UBI can solve it ? I presume you must have already gone through these links ?

I'm NOT sure, but can you TRY this method which I'm giving ? First of all fully Uninstall the game, and also manually DELETE/remove any left Two Thrones Game folders from your Drive's location (e.g. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Prince of Persia T2T). Also delete any Registry entries if you can.

Now do a FRESH Install of the game, but Choose the 'Windows XP SP2 Compatibility' mode for the Installation. Run the game's 'Setup.exe' file under this 'Win XP SP2 Compatibility' mode. Also try installing the Starforce drivers under this mode.

What happens if you completely remove the StarForce drivers, and then do an Update ?

Unfortunantely, it didn't work. I did exactly what you told me to do, step by step... nothing. My version of StarForce Protection is 3.06 so I "should contact the protected program developers or publishers to obtain Windows 7 patches" (info from StarForce website). But there are no any patches and I don't think that Ubi will release patch for such an old game.

It says that there are no drivers to update.

I don't know what to do.

Hmmm.... Ok, tell me one thing. When you Installed the Game again under, 'Windows XP SP2 Compatibility' Mode, did it ask you to REBOOT/restart your PC ?? And you are still getting the same StarForce driver Message ?

/* The version of StarForce Protection is 3.06 ? Anyways, have you also tried contacting Official 'UBI Support', even if the chances of a PATCH are rare ??

    Unfortunantely, yes.

Yes, I tried to contact with UBI Support from my country (Poland) but they told me that they don't have any informations about patches and they suggested me to post a message on the official forum. They also said that if a patch will be available then information about it will be posted on this forum. Maybe I should try to contact directly with the developers because local support from my country didn't help me? But where can I get an e-mail or something?

Okay, apparently it won't work. Starforce states this:

Protection versions below 5.5 do not support Windows 7.
Users of products that protected with 3.x/4.x/5.0 versions should contact the protected program developers or publishers to obtain Windows 7 patches, or use previous Windows version to run the products.
Which means Ubisoft needs to release a patch to either remove the copy protection or make it compatible with Windows 7. Also:

StarForce offers FREE re-protection for all the developers and publishers of the programs that utilize version below 5.50 to release the appropriate patches. Please contact your sales manager for re-protection and further details. The offer is valid for non-commercial use only and intends for software patches.
So unless Ubisoft released a patch for their old Starforce protected games, which knowing Ubisoft is unfortunately very unlikely, it means none of those games are going to work on Windows 7. This means there's no legal way to get this to work.

    Yeppieyayeah....
especially after the movie I wanted to play all three games, two already done, but now I can't even start it because of a "protection" software...
yeah it protects from playing, well done!

After Ubisoft isn't really loyal anymore to its computer-community since some games, I don't think there will be any patch

Nevertheless, if anyone finds a way with a windows update or anything, let us know

I think it's not fair. I paid for the product and I want to use it. I don't think that this is so big problem that Ubisoft can't solve. On the contrary, probably it's quite easy for them to make the game compatible with Windows 7. This is what an honest customer get: a game that can't be used. It's sad but true.

Is there a way to contact with Ubisoft directly? Does anyone know an e-mail?
