If anyone runs the game on perfect settings with no lags can they please tell me their hardware specifications. I have good hardware, but the game tends to lag a lot more than I would expect it to.

Well it kinds depends, if i am going to play a huge map against several ai opponents, then no.. but on for example the campaign maps and so, it runs flawlessly.
I have a pentium 4 3,0 ghz cpu
1024 mb ram
and a geforce 7600 GT.
Hope it helps somehow.

Hey thanks for answering. I'm guessing its got something to do with the processor. If you know anything about Processors (which is the one computer part I know nothing of) can you tell me if a Pentiuum Duo Core 1.86 GHz is good? And if you're a real expert, can you tell me whether or not I can easily exhange for a better processor?
Well as far as i know ( which isn't a lot) a duo processor would mean you have to of that 1,86 ghz effect, meaning you more or less have 3,72 ghz .. or something around that (as far as i know) So that should be pretty good actually.. possibly it could be a driver thing, that your computer is unable to utilize the dual processor effect, so it might be that. Otherwise i really don't have much of a clue, i would seek out someone with more knowledge in that department. Regarding replacement. Now that is tricky, because you have to be sure your motherboard can accept whatever new processor you are getting, or you'll end up buying a new motherboard.. and possibly a bunch of new parts if you really are unfortunate.
But again, i am not an expert (as far as i know). But i hope it helps.

I thought so (about rteplacement). All right, thanks a lot for the advice. I'll look into it. I was just trying to get a baisc understanding. As for the drivers, I don't think that is the problem because I spent about an entire day looking for all updated drivers. Might be something with the game though. I don't know. Thanks again for the advice.
I really hope you are able to fix this problem soon, it can be quite annoying..

A dual core CPU does NOT equal 2x the speed of a single core CPU, it merely means that you have a second core that can offload the first one in multi threaded apps, or when running several CPU intensive tasks. I am not sure if HoMM5 takes advantage of dual core CPUs, but I'd assume not.
With that being said a CPU based on the Core 2 Duo architecture should be more than adequate for the task, and one clocked at 1.86ghz (e6300 I assume?) should easily be faster than anything based on the netburst (Pentium 4) architecture.
Could you specify the other components in your PC? GPU and the amount of RAM you have would be the most interesting information. Also, when you updated your graphics drivers, did you remove the previous ones prior to installing the latest ones?
GPU - GeForce 8600 GTS (OC)
RAM - 3G
Drivers updated day to day (as soon as new ones become available for each piece of hardware)
As for removing prior ones, yes, I removed a Ge Force 7900 GS about 6 months ago. As you can see, everything looks pretty good. There are, however, plenty of moments, especially during battles when the game lags horribly.
And since you seem to know quite a bit, I was wondering what you know about processor replacement (not sure what it means by motherboard accepting it but I know that energy consuption has to be the same).
He meant did you uninstall the previous drivers? I think you must have or the 8600 wouldn't work well at all.
I wouldn't sweat too much about replacing a processor.
Do you have just heroes v or do you also have the expansion?
Because there is a smith_bd trick about changing the ai time limit that improved my performance quite a lot. edit: for HoF expansion.
I have both an nvidia card system and an ati card system and the game runs the same on both.
Artificered rakshasa kshatra are awesome.
