Thread: Assault Rifles Vs Subs | Forums

  1. #1
I was wondering if there is somethign wrong with the Range and damage or the assault rifles. When I am playing it really does seem that the subs are way better. More Accurate and just as good at long range.

Is this a bug or by design. There is so much recoil on the assault rifles I would think uping the damage a little would be good for balance.

It's by design...And from what they've said so far they're not going to be changing it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

So the subs are supposed to be just as good at a distance? The only advantage I can see to useing one is the 6 times scope but they are so in accurate for the most part even with single shot you miss your mark half the time. I have tested just shooting at regular items sitting still and even on single shot they hardly hit.

The only reason there is a such thing as a Submachine gun is for size, rate of fire, and still packs enough punch to put the enemy down. An assault rifle will still out perform a sub machine gun in accuracy at any range, and it's going to hurt a lot more as well. The developers aren't the brightest bulb in the box.

I can only comment on what I see in the game. When I have used the MP7A1, I am able to hit almost everyone, from any clear distance, with the 6x scope. There are a few times I have to shot a burst to kill someone with heavy armor on. I switched to the AK47 lately, it tends to be accurate, but nowhere near as accurate as the MP7A1 or the MP9. It seems to have more punch down range, but I use it more for the fun of it than to be a sure kill each time. Thanks.

P.S. About 85% of the people I play against use the MP7 or MP9. Thanks.

I'm curious. If they made it so that Assault rifles dominated sub machine guns (as they do in reality) would you use the sub machine guns in the game?

I doubt it. I'm glad they made it so that you can use any weapon and be able to get kills with it. I do agree that the accuracy/dmg on some of the subs could be slightly lowered for long range.. but I don't think it will kill the gameplay if they don't.

The Ghost Recon series gets this right. With an SMG you can move and turn more quickly than with an AR. In this game it's just based on how high you have your controller sensitivity set.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Perhaps the introduction of the armor encumbrance idea is to blame for the movement. I wonder if they have a PEC in GRAW 2; maybe they wont "get it right" this time.

In my experience, I find the same thing that everyone else on the forum finds...the subs are more accurate at a distance, however, I do occasionally get sniped in one shot by people using a FAMAS...I know its in one shot because I'll get shot in the head before I actually see the person lean out of cover and pull the trigger. Lag is unfair sometimes, you gotta start shooting at where they are GOING to pop out, instead of shooting when they do pop out.

Yeah that's the best way to get a kill with an AR. If you don't get that headshot you're at a big disadvantage though. That's also one of the main problems with the cover system. You can pre-aim that headshot, then pop out and fire before your opponent can even see you moving. If you're the host this is a lot less likely to happen to you though.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

    To answer your question, YES.

If the weapons in this game were like they are in real life, you would see strategies formed based on the type of weapon you choose to use.

SMG's should dominate in close quarters, due to high rate of fire and short range accuracy. These players would most likely stay in the buildings, or use cover when advancing on those with AR's and sniper rifles.

AR's should be less effective indoors due to their larger size and their slower rate of fire. They should be great for medium range combat. They should own the open streets where suppression and movement is necessary. They would be a good all around gun, but not so accurate at long range so that they trump the Sniper.

Snipers should own the medium to long shot. Due to their slow rate of fire, they would be useless on most anything but headshots. Shooting someone twice in the foot like HALO should not kill them, but two to the chest or one to the head certainly should. And it should be possible to shoot a head on the first shot if the crosshairs appear to be settled and dead on.

Shotguns should be a great sweep and clear weapon for rooms, but not as effective down long hallways.

Pistols are o.k in this game from what I can tell. Although the Desert Eagle is too easy to bring back to zero once it has been fired.

So basically what you get is the guns balancing each other out, the gameplay would be more tactical as you would have to create strategies based on what guns you picked and their advantages/shortfalls. You could not just rely on the run and gun technique.

    Just my 2 cents.
