Thread: difficulty resets itself mid-campaign | Forums

anyone have any idea how to stop the game resetting it's difficulty settings mid campaign?

either stop it doing it or cure it once it's done it.

after hundreds of hours of play it's a bit of a pain in the **** to have everything suddenly rearrange itself.

    any advice would be nice.

    Welcome here!

This should not happen at all!

Within campaigns, diffiuculty settings are blocked, once the campaign has been created/started, one cannot change them... and surely they should not change all by themselves!

Can you tell us a bit more on what your computer is like?
    Vista? XP?

Is there anything to say about when it happens?
After you've played a single mission?
    Or a different campaign?
    Or online play?

TIP: Better edit your post and leave out your email address. Leaving it there may cause lots of spam being sent to it, as google will probably see it, index it, and then others (spammers) can retrieve it....

    Good Luck!

i use a sony desktop for games, 2 years old, xp, pentium 4, shed-load of ram, maintained by an IT guru so it doesn't miss a beat.

the problem is a s follows: doing a campaign in IL2 with custom difficulty settings. some 150 missions completed after probably 300-400 gaming hours. completed a mission and had the 'this portion of the campaign is over, our squadron moves to bla bla, etc etc' as it has before during the campaign...

start new mission and the damn 'plane is unflyable (to an idiot like me anyway). after several spins and crashes i look at the difficulty screen and several of the settings are now inexplicably different to the ones i set; example "torque and gyro effects."

so, do i have to begin the whole campaign again? or is there a way i can 'cheat' and change the (locked) difficulty settings back to my specification?

help much appreciated, i've spent a LOT of hours on this game and don't want to have to start again.

    thanks
