Thread: Pros and Cons about being a medic? | Forums

  1. #1
Right now I am a spec op and I'm thinkin about switching to a medic but Im not sure becuse I am already ranked 25 and I dont really want to rank down. So if some one could please give me more info about a medic like what skills they get and what weapons they get, what kind of armor they can have and all the pros and cons about being a medic. Also if you have a squad with alot of members hit me up with a squad invite. Im a pretty good team player.

I switched from Commando to Medic. Dropped from level 8 or 9 to a 6, so no big deal in my case. You can get light armor, medium later I think. Light isn't worth a whole lot. Expect to die quicker and easier, as it should be for that class, but there are consolations. You can heal others as well as yourself. The SMG's seem a little "too" accurate, but that's to my advantage so I like it. That's your starting weapon class. At level 15 you get nerve gas. I just hit that, so I haven't been able to play with it yet much less level it up. I'm liking it.
I don't think there are any maps that really support sniping, and every other game seems to be in Clinic which is certainly too run & gun for it too. You might like the switch.

I switched from a level 40 Spec Ops to a Medic recently and it was a good decision. The ability to heal yourself and your teammates is a greater advantage than I thought it'd be. Medics can get pistols, smgs, and shotguns (lvl 25). Also you get a free gas mask slot at level. At level 20 you get toughness (120% health), only downside is at level 35 you only get medium armour. One thing I've noticed though is that the game doesn't let me take my medkit sometimes, like it'll be 100% and in my first slot, but I just get frags there instead. Must just be a random glitch.

I heard about that med pack glitch thing too. It seems like all the medics are having problems with that. I think there might be a patch to fix it but im not sure. Any ways I heard from a friend that when your a medic you can see your team mates health above there heads. Is this tru and does it block up your view? and can you see your enemies health?

I played as a Medic up to about level 11. It was fun, but I switched to Engineer to see how it was. I'm having a great time as an Engineer (prox mines!) but miss some of the aspects of the Medic.

Two words that describe the Medic are versitility and longevity. At level 1 they get SMGs. Some say they are the best weaponos in the game and they are certainly easy to use effectively. Because of this, Medics make a good combat class. They can hold their own against any other class in a fire fight. To add to this, they can use light and medium armor but the real kicker is that they can heal themselves, and eventually get the toughness skill. Even without the heavy armor, high level medics are a ***** to take down. Everyone loves a medic. You keep them alive and they'll love you for it. When I played Medic, I took my own skills for granted. Now that I'm an engineer, playing on a team without a medic is horrible.

The problem is, is that thats about all they do. Now since I never really achieved any of the high level stuff, I don't know this from first hand, but a lot of the experienced medics on this board say the high level skills are useless. Nervegas? Adrenaline? Medic Stations? I'm sure they are all neat, but a lot claim they are not really all that useful.

I'd argue that the Medic class is the best class in the game. They start out very useful and do not lose their usefullness over time. Thing is, that you don't have much to look forward to in the higher levels.

when the game came out i wanted to see what all the classes did. i became a high lvl in each, i became a lvl 27 medic before i decided to switch. at first when ur low lvl u think its great healing urself is fun and i didnt really try to heal teammates cause that a high percentage of u both dying but im sure all u medics can concurr that a lot of times when u just healded urself u go out and get shot in the head opr get a cross kill the only thing the medic kit is really good for is getting ur display fixed that comes in handy. after lvl 15 the guy just goes into a slump not like others do. light armor is nothing, medic kit gets old, and u begin wanting more but ur not going to get it nervegas is the highlight of the medic 15 sec fatal gas when lvled up that hardly kills anything just good for supressing a team in certain spot their 30 dollars a pop and a person can just run threw it and sustain little or no damge because theres a delay when u get it to see for urself i hardly see it thrown anymore because of this. lvl 20 u get shotguns and choose between advanced recoverey and toughness . then at lvl 25 u get the field clinic which being the only high medic at the time i thought it can be placed anywhere... NOT... theres a few place on each map where it can be placed out in streets where grenades can blow it up use it can be shot or blown up.a lot of the time teamates are shot trying to get health because of the locations im sure there post here and there redicoulus and it 170 dollars a pop so those tend to stay put until maybe clanmatches lvl 30 all u get is a free gas mask which is just plain weak then lvl 35 which is the highlight of a specializations lvl u get stiffed with a medium armor which all class get before or on lvl 15 come on other classes get special wepons at lvl 20 u get nothing. lvls to me... it goes engineer by a long shot tie between commando and spec ops depending on what u want and draging up the rear is the medic no special ability like criticle hit, recoil control, or demolition expert i can see if he was able to be like a chemical wepons expert or somethng where non leathals have a greater effect like tear gas never gas where just horrible for u and flashbang just garanteed death or a good passing around till he was finally put down by a nice bullet to the head so any other ?s just ask ill be happy to answer ur ?s on any class

Thanks Every one for all the feed back on the medics. I am almost sure Im going to stick with spec- op because I love my knife and my sniper. It seems like spec op is the best choice for now so im going to stick with it. I still havent really found any use for that jammer thing yet. Its seems like a worthless peice of **** so far. Once again If any one has a Squad with a large number of members hook me up with an invite my gamer tag is Skill3r Im a good team player. I get a lot of kills and very few deaths.
