Yes, you can see your teammates names and their vitality % so you can find them to heal them. That's also useful for combat to catch up if you get seperated and need to operate together. That's one of the most useful things about it too, IMO. I don't remember seeing anything like that as a commando, other than the radarscope. It doesn't get in my way.

A few reasons why being a medic is awesome.

    1. Healing - When your healing skills are maxed, you can heal yourself and anyone else to full health in exaclty one second.

    2. SMGs - They are grossly overpowered and you start with them. Sweet.

    3. Toughness - A hidden skill at level 20. When it's maxed, you have 120% health.

    4. You can see your teammates' names - You always know where your teammates are and what their health because that info appears over their head... even if they're not in the same building/room as you.

    5. Shotguns - You unlock them at level 25. You probably won't use them because SMGs are the most powerful weapon class in the game, but there is something to be said about unloading a USAS down a hall in Clinic.

For all the positives, there are a few negatives: Many of your skills are good in theory but worthless in practice. - Field Clinic, Adrenaline, & Nerve Gas... there's a reason you hardle see a medic ever use them.

Some people may list armor as a disadvantage. I don't and here's why - Every other class but one (the commando) has the same armor progress as you. Light at level 10 and Meduim at level 35. The one exception to the rule (commando) starts with light, get's meduim at 10, and heavy at 35. However, since armor strength only affects how much damage you take from body shots and mines, your armor class is irrelevant when people are aiming for your head.

Almost everything you stated about armour is false. Only commandos get heavy, at level 25. Spec Ops get medium at level 20.

Da_Real_Skill3r I hope this is about what your looking for. If you want a test send a friend request and we will play a few games and I will show you what a medic can do.

I am a level 32 Medic, There are a lot of good reasons why a medic is a good choice. I will try my best to inform you of my reasoning.

The lowly medic starts off on deaths door, its hard to live long in a firefight but as you work through your level you get skills that most over look or don't quite know how to use them as effective as they should.

Lets start off by the medic basics:

SMG - while viewed as overpowered by some, come in handy. Since not only the medic can get them the playing field becomes leveled. Since medics start otu with it they aren't totallly defenseless.

Healing - Very handy in Survival games, handy when your in a firefight with a walking tank aim for the head if he/she is a decent shot you will take quite a bit of damage. Obviously handy for healing your teammates and most I have healed evne for a sharpshooter they were almost too happy to be healed.

Radar jammer - you can not be jammed other than seeing your radar screwed up but since you cna see the names o nthe map it doesn't matter. And since you can't see enemy on the radar that doesn't matter anyways. Only thing that the jammer gets you on is the ability to use thermals, in that case pop a can of nerve gas in it and let them stand in the shadows and die.

Nerve Gas - Underrated it is effective but its not a question of how strong but when to use it. Its great for people who dont have gas masks in confined areas. toss it in and it screws up there vision so they can't see to get out. I have got a lot of kills this way. Gas is also effective when on conquest and REAL effective in use with an engineer and his/her firewall. Between your gas, the firewall and your bullets anyone going for the satelite is bound to assume room temp. Its also good for running away, say theres like two or three guys coming at you since most places have two exits stack the gas for a safe exit. I have done it many times so it does work. The gas is effective, buts its only as effective as how you use it.

    Ways to play:
-Camo isn't really that much of a difference but some camos in certain areas do work well. I have had people run by me and not even see me.
    - Work as a team, get an engineer to place proxys around a dump site in retrieval if you can ctach a guy running in gas the area even if he has a gas mask it still shakes his vision enough to miss the proxy. That one death can mean a win or loss in clan matches.
    - Gas doubles as Smoke when stacked and is more deadly. Use it for this purpose and it does work.
-Screw the p90 we don't have recoil control, get the mp7 and have fun. Later levels forget the shottys. Increase your pistol skills for when you want to play retrieval.
-Don't run and gun, your a fart in a windstorm not a tank let them come to you and use your gas as an advantage. Once you get the kill move somewhere else the tank know where you can and will come around the corner firing. Don't misunderstand thinking this is a recipe for camping, keep moving but move to consealed locations.
-Ask for backup, and then be the backup, get with a tank let them take the blunt of the impact, easier for you to heal them than to die and come back and waste time getting there while another enemy is bearing down on your backup. And you will probably die getting there if you left your teammate in a high fire area.
-- On a side note what I have done is I have a bud that is a commando with his shield. He will pull that out I will stand behind him and shoot using him as cover if he takes a hit I take a second to heal him and keep moving. They panic and run at that point, my friend puts the sheild away and makes swiss cheese. Another thing that tends to happen they panic and fire rapidly wait for their magazines to deplete and then pop up and send them to their spawn.
    - Never forget you are a medic check your team's health with a quick look, tell them to bunker down and get there asap. especially in survival. I don't know how many medics forget to heal their teammates they have a good sniper on the roof of hideout they kill them but slowly their health falls, eventually without healing they will die, either from a rush or a lucky pot shot or a very good sniper on the other team. You have a much better chance of killing and winning the game if you keep your guys with the abilities to kill easiest alive. Simple concept but it vastly overlooked.

I have been in games where people have commented that I was a good medic, I could kill with the rest of them but the only difference was my top goal was to keep them alive. You will get the hang ups where you heal a guy and a second later he gets shot in the head, Sorta makes you think about Saving Private Ryan when the medic is treating the soldier and then gets shot pissing off the medic. "Hold still, there your healed" *BANG* "Ok your holding too still now get up, hey man you awake, aw @$#$!"

I do well with my medic, After games people comment how they couldn't take me out as easy as the other commandos and spec ops. I just used teammates as shields j/k seriously I just use the map to my advantage, I don't run into open areas without some sort of cover fire, I never stay in the same spot after a kill. I have practiced shooting for the head, and I use an accurate gun, almost too accurate. But before you complain, you can use one too so complain elsewhere. Also pay attentio nto the map where ot place the reticle so that you always have it at head level, make it much eaiser for headshots, I know all classes are like this but for the medic is most important to get one that any other class. Lower levels you won't last long in a drawn out firefight.

    My loadouts:
    I always carry a MP7 and the .45 pistol
I always have a free gas mask since level 30

    Clinic
Usually some sort of lighter camo- usually one of the urbans
    Nerve gas or WP
    Medic kit

    Village
    A deseret camo
Nerve gas- lots of enclosed areas
    Med kit

    Hideout
Flecktarn Camo - with a hood
WP the map is too open for effective nerve gas
only bring nerve if you are workign with someone and playing conquest
med kit - if your playing survival and you want to heal more than fight bring a field clinic. Most times I have seen they don't kill it as quick here.

    Subway
Urban camo - theres no much place to conseal oneself
Nerve gas- great when people are in the train toss it in a window, they get turned around in there and can't get out before my gas kills them and when the gas don't kil they are extremely weak for a easy shot.

    Harbor
    flecktarn or black camo
WP again too open for nerve gas un less conquest
    Med kit

    University
    usually Tiger stripe camo
If you plan on running the basements get Nerve gas but if top bring WPs
    Medkit

    Redlight
    usually black or Russian
I have had luck with both gas and WP here but more some with WPs. When I used nerve I have usually used it to escape more than to kill
medkit - never a field clinic here I have had more of them blown up here than anywhere else.

    Embassy
I use flecktarn for when I want to dominate the rooftops or the sewers but if Im planning on groundside I go for tiger stripe
I bring only WPs here since the only heavy traffic confined areas are the spawns and I am not a fan of throwing gas in the others spawn.
    and yes the med kit

    Impoartant skills:
    At level...
    15- Nerve gas
20 Toughness or Enhanced Recovery (Get toughness)
25 Shotguns (ooooohh , just forget them)
    30 Free gas mask
    35 Medium Armor
40 you get the enhanced recovery anyway or if you picked E.R. at 20 you get toughness here

At level 32 I have worked for and I have tried many things but these are what seem to work best for me. Most people think its a run and gun, it is if you play that way. But if you run and gun at my tactics you probably will end up with a quick trip back to your spawn. You use teamwork with fellow classes to win. Have a set plan when the timer is counting down. Learn to make plans on the fly, if you got an idea speak up. Far to many games they just run and gun and die. If you plan it out it will usually work provided the other team doesn;t have a plan as well or better than yours. That is a good thing with this game, too many run and gunner they don't think and run right into death's door.

If you want to play my gamertag is Forsaken Bacon. If you just want to complain, dont bother. Send a friend request with some sort of message. If not, and I don't know you or haven't played with you, I will just delete it.

If you want to come on here and flame me, go right ahead. Im here to help people who want to learn about the medic. If you just want to complain about something your welcomed to, but atleast do so intelligently. Thanks. To be or not to be...

Excellent work there by ForesakenBacon, pretty much everything he says is absolutely true, Medics rule and everybody is always glad to have a decent medic in their squad. The only mistake that I can see in what he's said is that you actually get the 2nd secret skill (Toughness or Enhanced Recovery) at Level 35 rather than Level 40...I know this because I just reached Level 36 and have all of the skills already

Incredible post Forsaken, thanks for taking the time. I just got nerve gas, I've been trying to use it well. I can see what you're talking about with it. I'd love to play the game with a group with your way of thinking. I'll send you an FR later, I'd like to see what you do first hand. On your side. LOL

The good doctor is correct. Thanks doc for pointing that out. I was always told you get the second choice at 40 but if its 35, even better!

I know toughness is what everyone advises to get, but what is enhanced recovery anyway?
Not that I'm anywhere near the point of getting either.

Enhanced recovery simply allows you to recover from teargas and flashbang grenades more quickly. I dunno though. I somehow manage to get kills when I'm flashbanged and gassed that I can't get when I'm normal....... Guess I'm jinxed. On Black Arrow a friend and I used to flashbang each other on co-op then clear out rooms! It was a riot!

    Hi guys,
i just wanted to say that ForsakenBacon, great post man, i agree with almost all of it, except for the part where u say that run and gunners will die against your tactics. All i have to say against that is the fact that this game IS a run and gun, sure i like this game but any game where u can run and shoot accurately is a run and gun. Im not here to say im better than u, just that if im moving and running around, and ur standing still, chances are im going to win. Like leaning around a corner for example.... It should be the smart thing, but in this game when it comes down to it, its so much easier hitting a stationary target, espescially easy IMO if its someone leaning around the corner(the headshot are too easy when someones leaning), it may just be me but they die very fast imo

But like i said, i like your post and am not flaming you at all =)
