Thread: Walt Disney "Education for Death" (1943) | Forums

I was surprised to find a Walt Disney cartoon from 1943 about Little Hans' education in Nazi Germany... pretty realistic, and thus pretty spooky.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQqCeEG5hs0

There are some more links on said youtube site, the most interesting is perhaps "The Fuehrer's face", the oscar-winning cartoon from 1943.

    Enjoy...

Has anyone seen "Victory Through Airpower"? Great Disney propaganda, actually convinced the president to focus on strategic bombers!
"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.[Europe], under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges and governors shall all become wolves. " - Thomas Jefferson

Fascinating. The combination of the Disney formula delivering a very serious message is scary. I guess if we see this kind of thing again in modern times we`ll know we really are in a very dire world situation. It`s obviously aimed at the kids as well as adults as a warning.

Sorry - Hegel got there first, and Marx showed how to do it properly. As always, the Americans come in late and take all the credit.

(Ten extra points for anyone who knows what the hell I'm on about...)

Hegelian dialectic I believe. I don't think Marx "did it right" just another approach.
