Thread: Weapons in I am Alive. | Forums

  1. #1
One thing I noticed is that in the "Everything we know about I am Alive" topic is that we see a picture of Adam Collins holding a piece of rebar. This sorta made me think (this probably has been touched on in another topic) about weapons.
Basically, I think the weapons should be presented in a enviromental style, sorta like the amazing Condemned series. If you get trapped by a bunch of baddies, you should be able to beat them off using a nail board, metal pipes, pieces of fallen rubble, and maybe even shards of glass. I already understand the firearm and trap mechanic of the game, but I don' think the firearm mechanic should be nailed down to finding police firearms and stuff. I think we should be able to improvise in a way that would be fun, but challenging.
At the campsite in I am Alive, there should be like, a mechanic that wants you to go out and get things to make weapons with.
So tell me your opinions below, k?

I agree with tuggernuts6435, that would make sense and be amazing but, i dont think they will somehow. To make pieces of piping etc in every location usable would be a mammoth task. There is also the danger of making the game look stupid with only certain pieces available to pick up. If ubisoft are able to do make the rubble etc. usable then great but not if it makes the game look stupid and disjointed.

Weapons are an idea that can be expanding greatly with the disaster mode of the game. It would be great to have an interactive world where you can acquire weapons from the environment near you. Nothing fancy though, need to keep to the disaster.

Yeah, nothing weird. Like in Condemned 2, which this idea was based off of, I was using a prothestetic arm and a toilet seat to beat off baddies. There should be nothing unrealistic like in Deadrising where I just picked up a park bench and lawnmower to kill zombies. The weapons should apply to believable things. Baseball bats, pipes, 2x4's, fire axes, bricks, and Adam's fist should be weapons. Along with that cool firearm mechanic and that trick Adam did in that video.

I think this game is about survival and your suvival instincts. Obviously Adam has to make use of his surroundings (e.g. Making use of broken off pipes, threating others with empty guns, etc.) But there has to be actions where he can snatch any weapons other baddies are wielding against him, like in GTA IV, right?

Yes. I'm hoping for an interactable enviroment type game.

Wouldn't it be nice, if Adam can mix some elements to have a weapon? like if when he found some pipe, then later on he found a piece of broken glass or something... and make a spear out of them...

I think you should be able to use weapons with no ammo more of a threat than actually damage. You should also be able to pick up metal and rocks for imporvised weapons.
