so, what do we all know about books? who likes what, who reads what, who wouldnt touch what, stuff like that.

personally my favorites as of now are:
Villains By Necessity- think lord of the rings, but the bad guys are the ones who are questing.

Wheel Of Time: amazing series, though i dont know how else to describe it.

Twilight (please, dont laugh at a guy reading it)- honestly, Bella and Edward remind me of my first girlfreind and myself (we still get along great)

    and

Blackhearts- criminals are given the options: get hung at dawn, or do their countries dirty work. another book full of villainry.

well, my fav is to kill a mockingbird. i made a limited edition of it in my book design class back in college. good stuff.

anyway, last book i read was 1001 nights and now i'm reading moribito: guardian of the spirit. moribito's pretty sweet... it's the novel that the anime was based on. a bit different in quite a few parts, but still really good. almost done with it, then i'll be gettin the second moribito book when it comes out next month... already got it preordered on amazon.

    the anime:

IMO all of them are useless and empty books, just like Harry Potter; they do not offer nothing more than a simple distraction, they do not have any innovation when it comes to writting, and they do not have any interesting literary resources among all those empty pages; with that said, it is clear to see that I think theyre ****, specially Twilight nasty piece of crap.
But well, there are different likes and dislikes, and thats just my opinion.
Recomendations? I would say many, but they're in spanish, so... I recommend you to read the "Ulysses" by James Joyce ; it is believed that it is the first novel to use the "interior direct monologue" an awesome literary resource which express the character's psyche in the most "realistic" way possible... It is Masterful

Hmm...this is tough. Sort of like games, it's difficult to pick just a few to list

Here's a few that came to mind:
"Catcher in the Rye" - Not just for serial killers! It's a fantastic book by J.D. Salinger

"His Dark Materials" - The Golden Compass series by Phillip Pullman

"East of Eden" - I'm not a member of Oprah's book club, but she made a good recommendation in this case! Written by Steinbeck

"Harry Potter" - Hey, if you can list "Twilight," I can list HP . Written by J.K. Rowling

"Pride and Prejudice" - Yes, I'm a girl. Written by Jane Austin

"To Kill a Mockingbird" - Love, love, LOVE this book. Written by Harper Lee

"Lord of the Rings" - Hell yes! Written by J.R.R. Tolkien

"Oliver Twist" - Written by Charles D. (apparently his last name is offensive )

Books that I didn't care for:

"Twilight" - Sorry, Mortificus, but I read the first book and couldn't bring myself to continue.
"The Giver" - I like endings to my books. Kthxbai
"Grendel" - Had to analyze this extensively in high school. I'm still bitter

    There's a tiny list, anyway...

twilight, i will admit, ive only read the first book, and at first i was like "wth am i reading this?" but idk, it kinda drew me in

as for the Giver, i must say i didnt care for that either. it just left alot to be desired for me

@ dom: never heard of Moribito, whats it about?

@ stealth: fair enough, though thats what i love about books though, they dont have to teach you things, but its all based on your imagination. you see things how you want them to be seen

moribito is about a young prince who has a spirit's egg inside him and a warrior woman who is charged with protecting him from the king's (his father) assassins that are trying to kill him to protect the royal family's honor. it's pretty good, but it's a young adults book like twilight and harry potter and all that... but the difference is, this is a novel from japan that was translated. oh, and it's not like about wizards, vampires, teens, and stuff like all those other trendy books out.

@Morti: Yep, but I meant, I just didnt liked them because they didnt "teach you things" I disliked them too because of what I said earlier, the lack of innovation of their styles and the lack of real literary content... how many books are like HP or LOTR or ERAGON? lots! a hell of a lot! and neither of them is better than the other ...
And well, Ive been dealing with lots of noobnuts who claims that J.K Rowling is the best writter ever thats so annoying and ubber stupid...
Or people that thinks Tolkien created all the stuff portrayed in LOTR out of nowhere... yeah right
Nevermind XD... I always get carried away when it comes to this stuff

lol....That can really be said for anything, though. When a genre is popular, there are going to be a lot of copycats and there's going to be a lot of overlapping. But there are gems that rise above most of what's in their genre, and I'm willing to defend HP and LotR in that respect. (Not so much Eragon, though...)

I am a big big Book Reader and fond of Books. I strongly believe that Book reading is a kind of entertainment which has no replacement. Even in todays World, where you have internet and all that, Books are still very important. Been Reading Books since childhood and love to write as well

agreed pop_sot. i am the only kid in my town (i live in a small town in the middle of nowhere), and im the only one who has problems finding books to read because ive read most of them available to me. the girl who let me borrow her copy of twilight said she expected it back on monday, when she gave it to me on thursday, but i had it read at the end of the school day. only problem is, i have good ideas for books, but not the patience to write them.
