check your audio settings in your control panel.

You may have it disabled or on headphones?

Me too. I have re-installed demo, re-installed up-to-date sound drivers and still no gunfire sounds.

I have an NForce 2 motherboard with the excellent (before anyone says 'oh, it's because it's onboard') onboard Sound Storm sound chip. Believe me it's excellent hardware, 5.1 compatable and until now no problems with it...

Go to programs, Ubisoft, Red Storm Entertainment, Rainbow Six Lockdown Demo and press Uninstall Rainbow Six Lockdown Demo! And all your problems will be solved!

I must admit to liking the graphics, but it'd be kinda nice to have firing sounds as well

I had the same and the following sollution worked for me.

    Go to control panel
    Open the Sounds
    Select Advanced
    Select 2nd tab
Put the Hardware Accelaration 1 step to the left.

    Restart Lockdown.
