Thread: HD 4870 graphics card | Forums

  1. #1
Does anyone know of any issues the game has with 4870 graphics card? I've just built a new PC the specs are:
    AMD 6000+
    Ati 4870
    2Gb 6400 DDR2

My PC maxes out games like COD4 so I don't understand why it keeps crashing with RSV2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know wots wrong then. The only other game it plays up with is splintercell double agent. I have noticed that they are both using Unreal graphics engine. I fixed splintercell by installing older versions of direct X, it seemed that some dll were missing in later updates.

You've answeredyour own problem there pal... It's not the Unreal engine that's at fault though...

Who made Splinter Cell Double Agent?

And who made Rainbow Six Vegas 2?

Got your answer? There's your problem...

You could try updating your graphics drivers, either from ATI website or guru3d.com gamershell.com or wherever... Personallly I like to use guru3d.com for drivers... faster downloads than the manufacturers website, (although I'm reffering to nvidia, ATI site might be better...)

Do you have all the updated drivers? Directx, Service pack 3 if you have xp, Service pack 1 if you have vista? Try updating your drivers than test it out again. Also download the new catalyst drivers from amd ati website. Hope that helps.

Instead of using older Direct X .. Try a newer version!
It may not help, but it won't hurt.
    It only updates as needed.

You can always back up your hard drive first, and then roll back if it doesn't work!
    (I use Acronis)
Always a good idea when making changes!

    This is the redistributable version:

A note on the Direct X Redistributable:

When you run this file, it will ask where you want to extract it to:
I extract to the same folder where I downloaded, but you can choose to extract anywhere you like.
I would suggest not extracting to your desktop, as there are a lot of files.

After extracting, run the "DXSETUP.exe" file and it will update as needed!
