Went on to the WINZIP site to buy an individual liscense
for the program, they are also offering a "SELF EXTRACTOR"

I know how to use basic winzip, but what is the self extractor, what does it do, and do I really need it?

The only reason I ask this is that I am using the TM COUGAR, and to automatically download and install other peoples zip files I was wondering if this "self extractor" is a necessity?

If you are looking for a zip program they have one here http://www.izsoft.dir.bg/ for free.

I suggest you look at WinRar, tehy are light years ahead of WinZip in terms of compression, functionality, and ease of use

Self extractor is to MAKE self extracting zip files [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img]

WinRAR will also open zip files as well as RAR and ARJ files......although not so common.

Will WINRAR work with the TM COUGAR app that automatically unzips profiles and put them into the correct folders for use with the COUGAR?
