Is it jsut me, or are others also annoyed by the seemingly unrealistic AI behaviour? Why is it that when I fly a Spit or Hurricane, the engine coughs or quits under negative G loading, as it should, but AI aircraft seem to get away with any maneuver, and you never see smoke pouring from their exhaust?
Another point I'd like to raise is the leading edge slats on the Bf-109. Previous IL-2 versions seemed to model these realistically, but now they appear glued to the leading edge under most circumstances, even on the ground. What gives?
Okay, one more...does the pitch trim wheel not work in the Spitfire? Or does it require joystick control mapping?
I lied, one more complaint. The dive brakes on the Ju-87 and Ju-88 seem to self-deploy if I go for an outside view, and then return to the cockpit. It's okay if I reamin outside, but as soon as I go back inside, the airbrake lever has moved. It's most frustrating when in the air....
Other than that, I'd like to commend the Ubisoft team for excellent work. I erased all other games from my computer to load this one, and I'm not bored yet.

The only one I can address is the smoke from exhaust issue. Actually, it will happen. But the interesting quirk is that, some AI pilots planes have a greater propensity to do it than others, or so it seems. It may be tied to the skill of the pilot or his ability to avoid damage.

Right now, I'm making a vid and working with a lot of AI control. Damage behavior is frequently observed, and it is anything but linear. I've seen what appears to be fuel leaks self seal. conked out engines successfuly restarted, and a variety of other neat behavior.

This sounds like a control assignment conflict. When playing around recently I discovered it's possible in some circumstances to have the same key combination assigned to different controls in different sub-menus of the controls setup. Double check that you haven't done this by accident and maybe try re-assigning the dive brake control.
The only other possibility I can come up with is that the autopilot is extending the dive brakes, I know I had trouble getting the autopilot to leave the cockpit controls alone on some bombers when I was testing gunner controls.

Yes, thank you for your response.
I had the "Toggle Airbrake" assigned to a particular key, as well as the "Open Airbrake" (or whatever)and "Close Airbrake" also assigned to keys on my X52. I deleted all and re-assigned the Open and Close to one toggle on the stick quadrant. It seems okay now. Thanks again.
    Different point:
If I may just suggest to the Dev team, I love how the wheels on aircraft still spin after takeoff, while retracting. This is cool. But touching the brakes has no effect on tire rotation once free of the ground. Can this be remedied? Not a big deal, but it would be awesome if it could be done.
