The game seems to play fairly well, I find everything very difficult to see as most of it seems to take place at night but when my buddies are in trouble they keep saying 'don't leave me', 'I'm over here', 'there are soldiers out here' etc. but I can't find any way to locate them. This may be because I am deaf so have no stereo hearing but it is most frustrating. Far Cry 1 was much clearer.
Is there any way round this problem?

Look for blue smoke. Your buddy could also be 100 meters away. One wonders how one can hear a call for help from a wounded buddy at that distance!

Just adjust the gamma level to make the screen brighter.

Thanks for that. I have now managed to get past that block, though the blue smoke was still a while showing up. Is it mentioned in the manual because I haven't found it myself?
I did try brightening up the image but for a while there it kept defaulting back to the dark screen, this has happened before with other games but I don't know why.

You can choose to do your missions at any time of day or night you like. Just go to the nearest safe house, and stand in front of the bed inside. When you see a clock icon on screen, press the use(E) key and then to move the time forward, press D or backwards, press A. You then can save or not, then you're ready to go.
You can also choose to turn the A.I chatter on, so you can read it along the bottom of the screen, BTW.
