Welcome to all of our recent recruits: it is great to see so many new chaps and for all sections to be active with decent turn outs!
Also well done to our newest "Experten":
Gefreiter Roland "Nox" Kaufer
Unteroffizier Adolf "Lupus" Schultz
and Gefreiter Johannes Krug Volkmann whose aircraft is still undergoing its custom paint job!

Hello everyone,
First off please let me say that it is great to see the group being so active and also to see so many new members joining the group and staying active. We currently have around 35 active members per month with around 20-25 of those active on a weekly basis. This has seen us get up to 16 pilots in a mission on quite a regular occurrence! Weisse and Rote are currently fully active with two mission nights a week, Gelbe is currently active but only on one day a week due to vacations and service commitments from several members down under.
Our mission times are currently:
Weisse:
Tuesday 20:00 (London Time)
Sunday 20:00 (London Time)
Rote:
Wednesday 20:00 (US EST)
Sunday 20:00 (US EST)
Gelbe:
Sunday 17:00 (W AST)
Munz has also recently restarted Rote training evenings and Weisse is looking to get started with bi-weekly training nights on a Friday evening within the next few weeks.
We are also active in Air War and VOW Reloaded which run through Hyperlobby (look for members with IIJG53 in their names and you'll see some of us around most evenings. Most evenings you'll find people on our teamspeak channel flying in either these or even just some dogfighting, unofficial training or non mission co-ops.
We are currently running a small plugin mod for the community made mod pack "Ultra Pack 2.0m" - our plugin builds upon this fantastic mod set by adding in several new 109s including our current aircraft: the BF109G6 Erla, new weapon loadouts including the wing mortars (which to this date no-one has downed a bomber with a direct hit)
As you can guess we are currently in late March 1944 flying Defence of the Reich, big week has ended recently and we have learned a lot of hard lessons against the US and British forces. The new fighter variants are certainly huge challenges compared to our recent outings over the Eastern Front.
We have also recently had several pilots pass some huge land mark mission totals as well as many of our recent Luftkriegsschule recruits passing through into the main Staffels as Gefreiters and Obergefreiters.
Our planning for the eventual release of Storm of War is also coming along nicely which will see JG53 expand to incorporate a medium bomber or Stuka section alongside our current launch of a Zerstorer BF110 section in IL2.
We are also continuing to seek new recruits and are gaining some brilliant new chaps who are fitting in perfectly, but as always we are also encouraging all of our inactive members to get in touch and let us know they are OK and as always, encouraging them to get airborne once more.
Of course if you do not wish to be a member of JG53 any more, please reply and let us know to remove you.
All in all things are really progressing well and JG53 are continuing to progress and develop some fantastic teamwork which is seeing some absolutely fantastic wingmen come forward and show everyone exactly what JG53 is about: victory through superior teamwork and co-operation.
Anyhow, hope this finds you all very well. Looking forward to hearing from you all soon!
Val

Hi Valentine,
A quick question about your co-ops (or other online enterprises) - do you chaps always fly with nav lights on for identification? I see it in a lot of your screenshots. Thinking about signing up, but I'd not be so keen on that bit if it's mandatory during every flight.
Cheers!

For our co-op campaign we do indeed use nav lights. The reasons for this are that a fair few of our members have lower spec machines and identifying who is who at distance is extremely difficult for them due to the draw distances and of coure the limitations of the game rendering for objects with most members not able to see the number on the 109 they are attempting to get a bandit off when in reality you woudl be able to make it out.
It isn't the most ideal situation as it does make it easier to tell who is friendly and who is not (to a certain extent) but at the same time it does help with the teamwork element - sort of a swings and roundabouts type of thing really.
During VOW and AW we of course do not use them and this does sometimes see some of our members with lower spec machines getting seperated and picked off, but communication tends to cut it to a minimum.
Glad to hear you are keen and I hope that the lights don't put you off that much, I am sure once you've met some of the blokes you'll enjoy the teamwork focus and comraderie offered - just don't let anyone talk to you about barrel cleaning duty!

Thanks for the quick response Valantine!
Sounds like a fair compromise whilst we wait for the higher fidelity of SoW, I'll be in touch when I have a spare weekend - just had a kid so time is at a premium at present, but I definitely enjoy your style of co-operative flying and it's great to see a squad flying the 110!

Congratulations!
There are a couple of chaps that are currently going through the same thing with kids in JG53 right now: the best suggestion so far: wear a yellow tshirt when changing diapers: makes "friendly fire" incidences show up less!
Our 110 section is still in its infancy as it was only launched a little while ago: but the training program is almost finished and ready to commence regular sessions so with work we should have a few pilots do the exchange of 109 to 110 soon (although they can still keep the keys to their Gustavs too!).
We have however been flying 109's in its various forms for quite a few years now.
Hope to hear from you soon!
