No you can continue with 50% sync for every mission. Only failing the main objective causes you to stop (and try over)

You can't get the last few Cristina missions this way, though.

Cristina missions are unlocked at 15%, 30%, 45%, 60% and 75%. I myself haven't gotten the last one, and dunno whether I ever would. Attempting 100% sync is sometimes really frustrating.

Never bothered me much, though, seeing as the next line never starts until the lips have finished moving for the previous line. The biggest gripe I have about 100% sync is the inability to continue from a checkpoint. If you fail 100% even at the very end, BOO!! Go back to the beginning. This made me give up on sequence 8. Dunno whether I'll try again.
Oh, and cinematics can be skipped in the pause menu, but that leads to an additional loading screen, so kinda worthless.

Updating your videocard drivers might fix the slow cinematics.
Also updating your bink player codec, might help.
And last, it could be that your videocard just isn't top notch anymore

Further, I haven't completed all sequences at 100%, i think up to sequence 6 or 7. But by finishing the guild assignments/missions, you can easily get the few percentages extra needed to get the last christina memory, which is worth it.
Also, the collectibles are easily gathered and are another few percentages
I'm actually at about 80%, with 2 sequences left at between 50%-100% and the guild assignments... Oh, and about 15-20 treasure chests left to collect
