I've read the whole mission builder portion in the manual that came with the FB CD, but I can't get any mission put together.

I downloaded the Idiots guide, but can't get past number's 7, 8, & 9. I can't get any properties to come up that has AI check box in it.
I'm missing something (my brain) somewhere.
I'm using the Stalengrad 01 map & want to fly a 190 & skip bomb cargo boats ferrying supplies across the river to Stalengrad.

There must be some simple step that I'm not understanding...

The properties and waypoint box will appear after you place the object on the map. A good way to get into mission building is to modify existing missions. OSSI's dogfight maps, downloadable from the IL2 missions section,
make a good basis to start creating missions as much ground hardware is already in place.

O.K. I used the Stalengrad 01 map & picked an airport, put a fw190A8 on it & made 4 waypoints back to the airport.
I set two ships in the water close together. I put one tank on the shore with the green gunsight looking thing over it.
I clicked the load option under file, but it says no map shown...
how do I get this thing to show up in the single missions ?
do I have to drag & drop the files into a RU or DE folder? or what?

Just access your missions from the FMB. Get into the pull down menu where you load your maps from, chose "load" not "load map", and it will give you a list of your created missions.

Make sure you save your missions! Otherwise, each one you make will erase the one before as it is saved as ".mis" with no individual name.

Do the trial and error thing. Just keep fooling around with the FMB and you will see just how much fun it is.

Try Online Map No.4. Best there is for just farting around.

To play your missions from the single player menu save them to any folder under Missions/Single/Country. You can do that from the FMB, you can also create new folders, e.g. for specific aircraft, in the Windows Explorer.

So far I haven't made anything that I would even consider saving..lol..
However. right from the get-go things are not going well.
For instance. just made a test with a home airport & one aircraft that flys a circle & lands.
    1. I can not get the aircraft to show up on the airport even though I expand out & place the aircraft on the runway & check the "takeoff" in the objects-aircraft box.
also, when my aircraft flew its 7 waypoints & got to the last waypoint prior to the landing waypoint on the runway, 8 additional landing icons materilized & the aircraft did fly them & landed.
    why those extra icons?
another thing. it was a Hurri llc & its final approach speed was 100 kn/mph (whatever that airspeed number represents), but when I tried landing at that speed it stalled a wing at 120km/mph & fell from the air...crash!!...
no wonder AL is so damn good. he can fly faster or slower then I ever could...lol..

I tried putting boats in the river & according to the instructions you can turn them using the numbers keypad 5,7,8,9, but I couldn't turn some ships & could turn others.

For a fighter you need to zoom in as far as possible to see it but there really is no reason to do, when you select "takeoff" it automatically places the plane at the proper point on the runway even if it's placed some distance from the runway. Note that the plane will actually start from the end opposite the end you place the "takeoff" waypoint as that is the end the plane leaves the ground from.

When an aircraft gets to the last waypoint before landing the program kicks in a standard landing pattern that is built into the program and that is what you see. As aggrevating as it is at times, that's the way it works.

And yes the AI use a simplified flying routine and can do things that normal mortals can't do. Speed is in Kilometers per hour and altitude is Kilometers. The one thing they can do really well is bleed off airspeed quickly. Watch an AI land a Me-262 then try it yourself!

As for ships, static ships can be turned if they are selected, ships need to have waypoints set then they will follow the waypoints.

    Hope this helps some.
