Thread: DVD ROM Problem, URGENT HELP please | Forums

  1. #1
I recently bought FarCry in the UK in DVD ROM form.
I have installed and done the updates.
But every time I try to run the game I get an error message saying "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application".
Now there is nothing wrong with my DVD Drive, so has anyone any suggestions.

    Hello WyvernSniper,
I have the same problem as you. I have installed FarCry from a DVD. When I want to run the game I also get that message "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application".
Could you tell me how you managed to fix that problem?
Or if someone else knows the solution to this?
    Thanks.

    I had this with BF2.

In my case, my DVD (Lite-On DVDRW LDW-851S) had some software installed called DLA (Drive Letter Access) which would give me the option of burning files to CD/DVD using drag-n-drop.

The DVD copy protection on the BF2 DVD (I think its "safedisc") did not like this DLA software. I uninstalled the DLA software and I've had no problems since.

You may have some similar type of 'copying/burning' software installed that is conflicting with the copy protection on the FC DVD.

I think FarCry uses "SafeDisc 3.20.022" for copy protection, you can download the latest safedisc driver to see if that helps from:

Ensuring your DVD drive has latest firmware is also recommended (though doesnt guarantee a fix).

If your using XP, you could also download this safedisc fix for XP:

    Thanks for the info IceT.

I also have a Lite-On DVD and with it came the software DLA (from Sonic). As you suggested, I tried turning off that software from the DVD-drives (I didn't have to uninstall it) and after that I was able to play the game. No error message anymore.

By the way, I first did download the safedisc fix but that didn't solve the problem.

Again, many thanks for helping me out on this so I can enjoy this game.

Safedisc did not work. The last resort worked. I am enjoying the game again. Thanks guys.

Same problem here. All PAtches loaded, game will eventually run and runs fine, but it takes 10 + in /outs of the disc to get it working
