Thread: Planning Mode= A Core Piece to the Rainbow Six series | Forums

  1. #1
If anything should be added to Lockdown it should be the planning phase. Its not gonna be a Rainbow Six game without it. Its gonna be Ghost Recon or the Swat series which are all good but people play Rainbow Six for that planning and true-to-life tactical experience.

Unfortunately, with the PC getting a port (not a direct port) from the PS2 version of LD, the planning phase was not reinserted and will not be at this late stage of development.

I have stated time and again that there needs to be a planning phase as it is what made the R6 series different from everything else. Many of us do want that. Unfortunately LD will not have it.

If you look at the positive side the devs agree aswell. It seemed to be the one thing they really wish they could have re-introduced into the PC side of the game, but the reality was that it would have taken too much time.

Hopefully this means when RSE re-visits the R6 series for PC in the future they will have the time to build it in from the beginning.

Hopefully RSE will be allowed to do the PC version from the ground up instead of as an afterthought port. <_<

    1. The games already built there will be no planning phase this time around.
    2. Anyone know for sure there will definately be a nother itieration in this series?
Where Life had no meaning, death sometimes, had it's price. That is why the Bounty Hunters appeared.

    No planning mode? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Ubi will probably find a way to kill the series even more, sadly.

If the PC version does well (and I'm starting to think it might) Ubi might give RSE more resources and time to make the next R6 game. If it doesn't do well then there will probably be no next R6 game.

Well maybe not RSE, but hopefully like the GR series the next addition will be done with next gen consoles in mind and a dev studio dedicated to the PC version.

LD seems very much like GR2, except Ubi is letting it get released instead of canning it.

But no, my hope is that either RSE or some company who doesn't do consoles will get the job of producing the next R6 installment. That is really the only way I'll feel confident about the future of R6 again.
