evga 8600 GTS 256mb capable of running this game? | Forums

I bought this game based upon the fact that it says my video card will definintely play but it does not. I have the worst lag ever and the worst sound crackling ever. I dont understand why... Every item passes the Can I Run It checker on recommended with full pass (3.44ghz oc'ed quad core intel, 2 gigs ram etc etc)

Hmm... game seems to be running fine on my low-end system (P4 3.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, 7800GS 256MB). Have you tried playing with the in game graphics options, setting things like textures, resolution, and anti-aliasing a notch or two lower to see if the problem persists?

Also, that sound crackling doesn't sound good either and could very well be an indicator of the problem at hand. What is your sound card? It is a chip integrated on the motherboard or an actual sound card inside the PC? Have you updated the drivers for it recently?

I have set all of the settings to the absolute bare minimum. I have turned even the resolution down to 640X480 to try and get this resolved. Also turned shading completely off. I updated all of my drivers today when this started and everything seems to be completely up to date.

My sound is onboard Realtek connected to my Evga 750i FTW motherboard. I did have crackling problems with my 750i's original drivers but that was once and for all resolved when i went to Realtek for updated drivers.

Ive since Played Crysis, Crysis warhead and Crysis wars all with no problems at all. No sound problems with 8x AA and medium over all settings. I get between 35-70 on average FPS. This is completely baffling to me and thanks for takin the time to help.

and my whole system lags down with this game running which doesnt even get close to happening with crysis on any settings no matter how high. So for instance if i alt tab to a web browser with far cry 2 up i continue to hear horrible crackling lagging on whatever else i get to make noise like a bleep from windows
