Thread: Be careful buying this game | Forums

  1. #1
When you have taken the shrink wrap off and tried to install the game and it fails - PC will not read the disk or show anything on the disk or even acknowledge it you look in the book and only at this point do UBIsoft tell you they have some security that means it does not work with some drives (they don't say which)and I guess you then trudge back to the shops cursing the day you bought from UBIsoft. I have tons of games from many companies and never have had this problem. You have been warned.

    LOL

Why do I get the feeling this guy isn't exactly a stranger to this forum, regardless of this "first" post of his?

Some people really need to get out more...

Hm... lack of a DVD drive and apparently eyes seems to be the main cause of this.

    Or even better...

Did He/She/It but it in the DVD drive??? At least in the UK the front has a big PC DVD-ROM sticker on the front in top corner!

Take heed to these comments dwool, I know they arent very nice ones, but belive me - I actually used to do customer support for Ubi a few years back (though a third party company ), 99.9% of the time customers complain about a game disc not working/detecting, its because THEY did something wrong. The other 0.1% of time the disk is faulty,
I find it very hard to belive Ubisoft sold you 50 dollars or 30 uk squids worth of blank disc.

*also I dont buy the anti piracy software story, since its very unlikley the disk can determin what make of drive its in, it sounds like a lie created by a ubi support agent to get you off their back....

Though if it really REALLY! is blank (0.1% chance) - I would use it to burn and illegal copy of the game and then post it to Ubi in a box along with a turd.

Heh! to think those of you in the UK who called the UBI support line around 2002 regarding Silent Hunter 2 and it 6 zillion bugs - have probably spoken to me.... akkk please dont kill me!!!

    Ok dwool.

Take the disk back and exchange it for another one. You may, just may have bought a duff DVD it can happen. 0.01 % agreed.
If the problem is still the same with the replacement disk then look to your drive.
    Is your drive DVD compliant?
Are your DVD drivers upto date?

Please post PC specs and other relavent info next time so that I may be able to diagnose your trouble with some degree of focus.

    Regards
