Thread: Problem rudderpedals | Forums

    Hi all.

Got myselfe a pair of CH rudderpedals but the problem im having with the instalation is that no matter what, i cant get the Hatswich to work proppely again.

Iv looked arround all over the place for a fix, but its a jungle out there

I assigned all the axis to controller 1 and 2 (Saitek Cyborg) and so forth and got everything to work, but assigning all the views to the hat again in game is a no go, the game only "see" when i assign left, right, up and down.

    What am i missing?

Can i edit the Hat controlles in conf.ini?

8-way hat-switches work by having four switches arranged around the pillar of the button. Each quadrant is either up, down, left or right. The 45, 135, 215 and 305 degree positions are activated by the combination of two buttons being pressed simultaneously - e.g. Quarter-right view (45*) comes from 0* and 90* being pressed together.

For this reason it is impossible to assign these positions in the Controls section of the game. Using just the four commands you mentioned should work - but you may need to check a box assigning this switch specifically to "views" or "POV" in your controller software. If you can do the latter then there should be no need to program the hat-switch at all

Actually, when I got my rudder pedals I did have to reassign the hat views, and I was perfectly able to assign the angled views, front-right, back-right etc. I think it may be more likely that Your profile for the cyborg may have set it for a 4-way hat instead of 8-way. Check your profile.

Still no go, all the views (8-way) works just fine in game until i plug in the pedals.

Any perticullar reason as to why the joystick is all of a sudden controller 2?

Seems like reassigning just the rudderpedals (1 axis) is a lot easier than reassigning god knows how many butten functions the joystick has?

Only thing i can think of is the hat swich beeing worn out or something because no matter how delicate i am trying to assign for ex. "look up left" it comes out as either "look up" or "look left", very enoying indeed.

    Everythingelse works just fine.

XP/Vista assigns the controls Alphabetically . so when you plug in the CH rudder peddles the Satiek becomes controller #2. so you may need to use the game to set the views.

Yeah, it really is a pain to set the angled hat views, you have to keep plugging away at it.

I had so much difficulty getting the game to recognise the 45 degree views on a Cyborg I used to own that I resorted to using the Saitek profile software to assign the keyboard view controls to the hat.

On the other hand, with current saitek drivers this is not required. Instead of using it as a POV hat, use the profiling software to configure the hat switch as mouse input. This plus one key assigned as "Snap to front" view to recentre is all you need and is how I've set up my X-52. If you need a fast and slow pan you can set one speed on the hat without a joystick shift button and the other speed with a joystick shift button.

Well, well, decided i would give it one final try, went into the hotas section and thought to myselfe: "you are not gonna win this time u old piece of s**t harware", and to my amazement i assigned every singel hat view in about 4 min flat.

Just put the joystick in my left hand and the mouse in my right and kept on clicking away till i got what i wanted, pretty much forcing it my way. (dont know how else to describe it).

Anyways, it can be done with a bit of luck. No external controles program or anything.

Once in a online server i relized how much one uses the rudder without thinking about it, especially arround the sec. before a shot, missed the barn so to speak several times because i twiched arround with my hand instead of my feet and the general flying wasnt pretty to say the least, where all over the place, until i got the hang of it. Only "managed" to die once (to low to bail) in a 3 hour session thoug so thats a pretty good first try

Will proppably take a few more sessions before it comes natural, other than that i felt more realistic and worked very well.

Thx for the tips and help.
