Thread: Wow, gorgeous game, but does AA work in this game? | Forums

    The game is drop dead gorgeous and incredibly fun, but it seems as if the AA isn't working. Am I missing something? I have it on 4x AA and 4x AF, but it looks the same wether its on or not.

    I have a 6800gt so I'm sure it can handle some AA. Is there a setting I'm missing in the ini. or something?

    AA = Anti-Alaising.

    Helps reduce the jaggies on the edges of objects in game.

    If you have sm3.0 and HDR enabled, AA isn't supported. If you want AA, you have to disable HDR from shader options. It's a hardware limitation.

    I don't have HDR enabled, and it still seems AA is not working.

    Go into your nVidia settings, and make sure that the global driver settings for AA is not set to "off". Whatever you set in the nVidia settings overrides anything you set in-game, so if it's set to off in your nVidia settings, it'll be set to off in games. Just switch it to "application controlled", or create a separate profile for SCCT Demo and put on the AA settings, if you don't want it for all games.
    I hope this helped

    AA makes little to no visual impact in games in which the colours tend to blend pretty well. Splinter Cell just happens to be a game with a pretty simple colour palette. 4x AA would bog down your framerate for no noticeable effect. My reccomendation? Turn it off. : )
