Thread: Voice Commands - a solution? | Forums

  1. #1
Hi, I was just googling a bit for a free voice recognition software to use with SH3 in case it's not implemented already:

What do you think about this one?

    http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/M...ng_system.html

"IVOS (Intelligent Voice Operating System) is an intelligent agent that offers both Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech capabilities, allowing you to run your computer via voice commands. You can control the menu and sub menu of any software, including total voice operation of MS Outlook. You can use voice commands to open files, folders or websites and much more. In addition, the Text-to-Speech features allow you to convert your spoken text into typed letters, compatible with any software that offers a text input window (email messages, forms etc.). Additional features include dynamic voice control, dictation, transcription of recordings and more."

It's shareware, and I didn't test it yet, have no idea if it works. So it would be cool if somebody who knows a good freeware program which could work with SH3 would post it as well.

Ups sorry I just see that this has been adressed in earlier threads, especially the program "shoot" which seems very well suited. My only concern is that it only takes keyboard commands - do we know yet if every order can be given by keyboard? I mean especially orders like "set course to 120" or "go to depth 50 meters" - could such orders be done by keyboard and subsequently by the voice recognition program?

    how should we know? lol

not trying to sound harsh but it's the truth, we wont know till we've got the game, but i'm pretty sure there will be a bunch of functions accesible by keyboard. Just dont know if u can do course etc too.

True, but I just thought maybe some of the lucky chaps who played the game already know a bit about the interface, and how much can be done with keyboard...

You could do like im going to do.

Sit in a big chair with your beer and get your bro on the keyboard. Then just shout orders at him. That way you get the EXACT feeling of being a commander. Also when things go wrong you throw your beer at him, that way he gets the effect of the water crashing into the boat (though its beer flavoured water...)

Also like all commanders if the **** hits the fan, you can always blame someone else muhahahah

I am planning to use voice commands with the excellent game commander (that is not free). I think that if most of the functions are accessible with the keyboard, we can do a combine method of control the game.

    lmfao, nice one

though its a bit of a shame to waste beer like that. why not have a glass of beer for yourself, and a glass of water to throw over your brother. or better yet, a glass of brine, or if you can't be bothered to make that, vinegar.

yes, a shot of vinegar in the eyes will teach him a lesson, when you tell him to crash dive, and instead he just opens the torpedo doors.

oh, and by the way, I have been using a program called VAC to utilise voice commands, I've used it in IL-2 and Operation Flashpoint, it works a treat. You can assign a voice command to any keyboard command. And it's very easy to set up.

    get it here: http://mysite.verizon.net/res19wz2/VAC/index.htm
