Thread: The Next GREAT simulation to come out? | Forums

  1. #1
Anyone know one or a few that will be on par with IL-2, the Silent Hunter series, Steel Beasts, etc.? Also, when will it be out?

Please give us some links so that we may look into the games/sims that you list! Thanks!

I know I'm about ready to venture back into the skies. Kinda miss the feel of a great flight sim. OMG I can't tell you how much I want a cold war gone bad type flight sim between the US and Russia. I would LOVE to fly US F-14 Tomcats off US carriers! The last game that featured F-14s was F-14 Fleet Defender Gold back in the early 90s and ran on DOS!

Next big one should be Storm of War: Battle of Britain, the next gen sim from 1c, follow up to IL2. Due somehwere late 2008 by estimation. Information policy is extremly limited.

    Never discuss with stupid people.
They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Is there a link to some screenshots or something?

The two of you obviously know your strategy games. TalladegaHack's response to what SH5 should be like (on another thread) is one of the best replies I've seen. If there is another SH subsim, I have to agree that it goes back to the Atlantic and will have Type XXI U-boats. I'm sure the SH4 add-on is a form of market test to see if the idea flies.

I'm intrigued by the premise of Storm of War: Battle for Britain. Recreating the battle where Goering and the Luftwaffe couldn't get control of the air from the RAF, is intriguing. I don't have much time to play games these days but this one has an interesting concept for military buffs like myself. I've always felt that a good military sim should be able to go both ways. If the Luftwaffe keeps pounding the radar sites do they win, or do the Big Wings still triumph? If they continue to focus on Fighter Command rather than bomb London, can they win?

I need a new jet fighter sim.

LOCK-ON is four years old now, isn't really that great to begin with (horrible campaign/missions/lackthereof) and my trackIR is getting rusty!!
