Thread: Performance issues (Vegas 2) | Forums

  1. #1
Ok, i posted before about this performance issue i'm having, i had several responses, and the main one was to upgrade my RAM.
    So i did.
The problem is, it still runs laggy, hardly ever over 30fps.

    My specs:
    AMD 64 3700+
    2GB RAM
ATI Sapphire HD 3870 512 MB
    Windows XP home edition

    Things i've done:
    Downgraded/updated my graphics card drivers.
Changed the DX sound support to basic.
Changed settings to low with 800x600 res.
    Asked UBI support.
    Upgraded my RAM.
Asked lots of people, there doesn't seem to be a reason.

your video card is kinda on the old an' weak side, dontcha think ? Try replacing it with a 880GTS. No laggy laggy with that card.

Hahaha... Oh, wow. My video card is about the same as a 8800 GTS, if not, better.

    that advice is completely rubbish...

i guess the cpu might be a bit too weak

That was an 8800 GT not an 8800 GTS.
Also, the GTS 640MB is worse than the 320MB.
No way i'm updating my video card.

Yeah, the processor is the next thing on my list.

The processor IS the issue. To temporarily see the effects, try downloading CPU-Z and increasing your clock speed (top slider under PLL Control) 200 - 300 mhz. You should see a general improvement in performance.

HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE: Overclocking can cause serious damage if not handled properly, and in many instances, voids your warranty on the product being overclocked. Make sure that you only play for a few minutes, then restart your computer so that the overclocking settings are defaulted back to normal clock speeds.

On the issue of video cards... Sure, upgrading your video card would be nice, but RAT's advice... I hate to say it, but it's rubbish from an economic standpoint. RAT's advice is solely based on progressive microeconomic American purchasing. Do your own research, find what's best for you, but make sure you do your research and not let someone else force it upon you.
