Thread: Anti-Aliasing does not work? | Forums

  1. #1
I built a new rig and recently got back into this game. I am forcing the AA and AF to 8x in my ATI Drivers, but I see no difference in the game. Aircraft edges still have the jagged edges.

My new rig is an i7 965 Extreme on a Asus Rampage II Extreme mobo. I have 6 gig of memory and an ATI 4870x2 vid card. Running XP Pro x64.

    Thanks,

Google ATI Tray tools, download and install that. It's a program that lets you o/c, watch your video card temps in the task bar and much much more. Also you using CCC?

I am using ATI Tray Tools. And I have used CCC as well. But I still get jagged edges on the aircraft.

What does overclocking the card have to do with Anti-Aliasing not working?

    Thanks,

O/C the card had nothing to do with it, I was just throwing some info about ATI tray tools out there. I use it and for lock on I use 4xAA and 4xAF and it works like a charm. The resolution I use is 1680x1050. Did you save it correctly?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Did you save it correctly?" I just turned on 3D Anit-Aliasing to x6 and 3D Anthroscopic Filtering to x16 and that didn't help. I did not select any option to 'save' anything. I just thought you turned these options on or off and it saved them?

Anyhow, I just now selected a profile that came with ATT called 'Max Quality'. That turned everything on. And still I have jagged edges. I don't remember there being anything in the game that I need to turn on, is there?

Here are some screenshots of what I am talking about:

Game Graphic Settings (if that matters for this problem?):

This is weird. Thanks for your help Cali!

Well- I would've thought that if a change was made, that the "apply" button would become available, you would click it, then click OK to exit out.

    This didn't happen?

Yes, it does do that if you use that screen. I was just using the menus...

I just posted that screen of the ATT because it showed all of the settings. I actually just used the menu that pops up when you right-click the ATT in the System Tray. Then I selected '3D Profiles' and then 'Max Quality'. There is no Save or Apply to do with that as far as I can see. The desktop flashed as the settings were automatically applied. I then ran Lockon and took that screenshot that you see above of the jagged edges in on the aircraft in the game. Then I exited the game and took the screenshot of the ATT Tool Settings screen that you also see above. You can see that the settings are 'still' applied even after I ran the game to take that screenshot.

Put your mouse cursor over the ATi Tray Tools in the task bar. It should show you your clock speeds, AA and AF.

Now do this, cause sometimes it doesn't apply until after I do this

right click the ATI tray tools in the task bar
click on 3d profiles (3rd from the top)
Find your profile and click on it, after you do this...your mouse cursor should move to the middle of your screen.

Yep, I did that. Didn't help. I've been using this tool for about 2 years now and it has always worked in the past.

I removed the 9.4 cats and ATT. And installed the 9.2 cats that I had been using before just fine. Also reinstalled the ATT. Still have the same problem. Before and even now sometimes when I click on a 3D profile the computer just crashes and reboots. I had to go into the boot menu and set it to boot up with just default VGA and then reset the 3D profile. Then I could boot again.

I think I need to go over to the 3DGuru's ATT forums and see if they can help. Thanks for trying to help me.
