Thread: An Unusual Request For Any Russian Speakers In The House | Forums

I'm currently working on a campaign which is set during the battle of Stalingrad. The premise being that the player is a member of an RAF squadron of Hurricanes (or possibly Spitfires - fingers crossed) on secondment to the Eastern Front - maybe there's a squadron of Russian pilots fighting with Montgomery in North Africa by way of exchange! I want to produce some skins for this campaign and thought it might be appropriate if the squadron were known as 'The Useful Idiots' perhaps a Soviet Liason officer with a cruel sense of humour suggested the name (anyone who knows their history will understand why).
Would someone be kind enough to translate the phrase 'The Useful Idiots' into Russian and post it, in cryllic script, in a form I can take into PS or Word Art? I'd be very grateful.

Dom, please confirm this with a Russian speaker. I'm trusting the SYSTRAN translation for this.

Just save the graphic! PM me if you want it in .psp format.

According to every online translation service I can find (thanks for pointing me in the right direction Cossack) the lettering on the side of the plane says 'Useful Idiots' although I'd like the reassurance of hearing it from someone who knows the language properly.
What do you reckon to this as a squadron logo, plausible or what? (The two clowns design comes from a tattoo on my girlfriend's backside and I doubt she'd thank me if I posted the original shots online!)
Incidentally, for those who don't know (and who give a s**t) 'Useful Idiots' was a phrase supposedly coined by Lenin to describe those supporters of Bolshevism in the western democracies who were too stupid, naïve or selectively perceptive to acknowledge the reality of the Soviet system.
There are plenty of modern day equivalents.

Wow, I can only imagine the awkwardness of that.

"Hey babe... umm... I was wondering if I could take a picture of that tattoo on your butt."

    "What for?"

"Uhh...Well... you know... eh... umm... *mumbles*Fora game that I play...*mumbles*"

But if she's anything like my girl she probably responded with a giggle and and something a kin to "You're such a cute dork."

You might want to try putting the clowns on a shield or roundel of some sort. I think that would make it look more like a squad insignia.

That's just an opinion, of course.
