Thread: 3ds max import problem | Forums

  1. #1
Hope someone can help me with this SCCT ed prob:

When I import an ase as a static mesh, it looks OK in the perspective view etc, but is invisible ingame. It has a shadow and thats all. How can I fix this?

I've tried as a brush too, but faces are missing ingame.

I'm using 32 bit tga as a texture in Max, with Multi-sub objest & bitmap Material.

I've searched and can't find any info - any help with this would be massively appreciated.

    Ta.

Edit: ps. in max ive converted to ed. mesh, turned smoothing off and UV mapped.

Awesome - thanks Iservealot. That fixed my problem. Still trying to learn the whole UnrealEd thing, so I'll probably have heaps of questions about bump maps, movers and events.

    Thanks again for the help.

Too bad CT does not have bump maps. lol

The car does look pretty nice though.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No bump maps? Single Player CT looked as though it uses them (esp. at the Bank) so I thought it would be poss.

Car isn't great, but its a low poly model and the editor seems to crash with anything over about 9000 polys.

Anyhow, thanks again - that problem was doing my head in!

Normal mapping is present in the Single Player, but the multi player mode is developed by an entirely different studio, with an entirely different build of the Unreal Engine.

At one point, the early builds of CT had normal mapping for the versus mode, but there were bugs and development time caused the devs to take it out.

You should add me on xfire. Check your PM's, also.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
