SH-3 is the greatest sim i ever played !! That is for the 3 times i acutally got through the copy protection !! Its the copy protection that greatly overshadows SH-3 exellent programming and gaming factor. This anti copy-software is the biggest peace of junk i ever seen and is UBI,s greates blunder so far! ill sum up the problems for ya!

    * The software takes about 10 - 15 mins to check your disk this suckes big time !
    * It requires me to enter the cd key every single time i start sh-3. And sometimes the cd key works and sometimes it dont addeing another 10-15 mins to re-read my disk for the cd key ! This means it acutally can take up to 30 mins to even start SH-3 and i dont have even minimum spec!
    * I enter the right cd key and still the program treate me like a software pirate!! Now i paid 50 euro,s for this game ! I feal discriminated!
    * Sometimes it helps to not enter the -,S with the cd key but sometimes it dont help
    * the cd key issue would be such a problem to enter a few times to get it right but NOT IF IT TAKES 15 MINS EVERY TIME TO CHECK THE CD key!
    * It would not be a problem at all if you have to enter the cd key only once with all the other software and i really dont understand why it is nessecairy to enter the CD key every single time when starting SH-3 this is so retarted . Its like some peace of NSA software containing highly classified information .
    * I can understand fully if people think twice before buying any software from ubi containing this kind of copy protection! Its a shame that it keeps me from playing SH3 9 out of 10 times which is frustrating and overshadows the exellent peace of software sh3 is! PLEASE UBI SORT THIS ONE OUT ASAP! THE COPY PROTECTION HURTS THE HONOUST CUSTOMER MORE THE THE PIRATS!!

Warning this thread contains highly dangerous levels of bull****!!!

Reading this post wasted 4 hours of my life and passed onto me the evil exaggeration disease

Also warning, posts like these hurt honest developers who put lots of time into making a game for the fans and makes games like "shootemup 4, revenge of the cannon fodder" much more likely to be your future pc game...

*** 5 seconds to check the disk, copy protection only needed once...***

I couldn't agree more, also had problems with reading the key due my dvd drive was not compatible with starforce. I fixed it by using my dvd RW drive for installation. But the game is great anyway!

I'm having the same thing I start by clicking the desktop icon, then the copy protection takes over. I don't have the desire to sit for x amount of time and wait for the game to start.
sometimes it dosen't even start wierd stuff. I think this is a problem that needs fixing. Please if anyone has figured it out let me know.Great game

Why not send an email to your dvdrom manufacturer and ask why their drive doesnt work with SF.. I have no problems with my Lite-On 812s and takes about 5 seconds for SF to check, and no reentering of keys to..

    Dom -

You can take your nonsense elsewhere - I have been gaming sim gaming for years commercial and for the US Navy - And doing it in real life. I love sims - and I feel the same way Oscar does….

This is the first time I have ever had a prob - no question Starforce is a questionable product and decision. Have you no clue of how many people have had probs worth it?

Again we love the game - NOT the hoops you jump through to get it to work. I bet the dev's told managers DO NOT put Starforce on.

Unreal. People like you slay me.

Just thought of something to try guys. Since the digital download version will be available soon (22nd) give that a try if your really comitted to getting the game running. (and not letting the starforce bastards spoil your fun)
Since it's likely a disk image on your HD you won't need to worry about drive problems. What do you guys think?

What's the point? You can't patch hardware, except in a limited fashion through software drivers. Its up to software authors to ensure compatibility with hardware, not the other way around.

Some folks don't seem to understand what really annoys people about this. Its not so much the problems themselves (which are bad enough) but the fact that Ubi deliberately chose to inflict them on the unlucky not-so-few.

This isn't a bug issue; that happens and you learn to accept it (even if it means a game won't run at all on your system) and move on. Its a known issue with Starforce... and an issue its developers choose to pretend doesn't exist despite comprehensive evidence to the contrary. The decision at Ubi was to use the most effective copy protection around at present (which SF is), knowing what would happen to many users - and the ones I feel really sorry for are the poor bastards who don't even know what's suddenly started screwing up their system. Every Starforce game is the same. But using SF was deemed to generate more profit, so Ubi are happy to ignore those affected - not their problem once they have your cash.

    well said hertston...dead on..

like i continue to harp on..SF is Illegally installing itself without consent..or any notification of any kind from the EULA..which is ILLEGAL in the US to do without the owners consent
