bring a revamped version of essentials to now current gen systems, replace the multiplayer with redone old style spy vs merc... (to keep the "hardcore" guys happy) and then finnish work on conviction at a later time... or something like that....

But yeah... I'm all for that idea. In fact, I'd even pay for a PC version of that based on the SC DA Xbox1 engine ; so that many people with medium spec PC's can enjoy it too - in contrast to the SC DA pc debacle.

Yes, it's nice to dream... and then you wake up, and realize it's never gonna happen.
Ehm, I actually - finally - got to play & complete Essentials, recently ; and it didn't impress me at all, let alone wanting it to come to XB360/PC/PS3.
Why ? Well - aside from the abysmal controls on PSP - the missions felt like a handful of slapped together rehashes.
Conviction's outcome should just make clear what is, and what is not canon in the timeline of the SC franchise story.

Ok, will do! We'll stop what we're doing now, spend a couple of years porting and making this semi-new game so you get a Splinter Cell title a year or so after when Conviction is currently planned for release.

Come on though...I'm only asking for a PS2 port. That should be easy...ish... Just fix the camera and you're good to go.
