The comments are well worth a read too. I can't help wondering if it's going to get cold round here ...

You must be careful voicing doubt on the "man made CO2 end of the world lets all live in caves" religion. You could be burned at the stake for heresy.

I find it curious that with a change of UK government the whole subject has totally dropped out of the media. This after being bludgeoned with it on a daily basis for several years.

    Hi all,

Is Global Warming a political subject?

It is if you deny it.

    C'est la vie...

Where is Europe? Can it be seen from England? I hope not.

In Australia Climate Change denial is almost entirely political. There are even sufficiently serious death threats against scientific figures for them to be moved to secure locations rather than normal campus offices.

Regardless of whether the science adds up or not, the denier camp in Australia have zero scientific understanding and argue against it purely because it sits better with their crazy right wing politics. Basically they decide beforehand climate change MUST be wrong and then run around collecting "evidence" against it which they quote willy-nilly despite the fact they have no understanding of the articles and papers they are quoting.

If the climate deniers do turn out to be correct, they will turn out to be right through sheer happenstance as they are taking that position on purely political grounds not scientific ones.

In Australia the climate change denial party, the right-wing 'Liberals', deny that climate change is/will ever be a problem due to the fact that their power base -the large businesses would loose economic advantage. They would become even more unpopular in their actions as they will pass on any climate change energy usage change & mediation costs onto the consumers. They have no scientific understanding of the problem and are only looking at a problem that transcends generations in its impacts with the view that anything they do will possibly effect their election window of 2 to 3 years.
A very short term view of an exceedingly long-range problem.
Typical of political parties but at what potential cost for our children, grand-children and so on.
