Anyway, my computer exceeds all req'mnts except I don't think I have a video card.
What should I get? Do I really need one? Why is my game running so ridiculously slowly?

If your computer does not have a graphics "card", meaning it's running on a lousy onboard chip, then you should definitely get a decent one to run this game at a playable level. I don't know about your budget, but I recommend Nvidia 7 series. If that's too much 6 series like 6800 or even 6600 should perform good. Also get at least 1Gig of RAM. These are the two typical bottlenecks.
