Hey Liqued, i forgot to respond over in their forums about that subject. You are ABSOLUTLY right that they need to. It will only stregthen the organization and bring more gamers together. Frankly I get a little irked by the snobbiness of the PC world somethimes, as I feel a gamer is a gamer. Why separate us, when we can have fun together?

I think alot of PC gamers view consoles as "casual gamers" units. Most PC gamers are hardcore playing games (ie: 6-16 hours a day!), where as they view people only play consoles for a few hours then run off to do other things. Problem is both sides have equal kinds of players. Console has hardcore players and PC has casual players. Unfortately, neither side is right on the issue but it will be an on going fight till eventually PC game systems and consoles are merged together into one unit.

Well I played 2-3 matches a night and spent over 30 hours a week on my console since beta testing- And I have a lot of friends that are the same. I think that online capabilities completly changed the nature of that particualar sterotype, as anytime you open gaming for competition that comes with playing online, it changes the ball park completly! Really online is the future and will only grow to make gaming more addictive, competitive, and cool. Every sterotype of all gamers will be ripped away and it becomes more mainstream, it is the same with any change!

I can speak to this with some experience as I was personally a hardcore PC gamer. I'd play games on the consoles here and there for something different, but I'd do my major gaming on the PC because of some of the freedoms I had with it over the console. Those items being binding of controls to fit my particular needs, ability to create new maps for a game without having to purchase maps, and other stuff of that nature.

But since the consoles have made it online and the online community has grown to be as large as it is now, my major gaming is done on the console now. I still game with some of the guys on PC, but the bulk has turned over to console. There's an adjustment factor there, but all in all, after adjusting I've gotten used to it. Hopefully one day we'll be able to create our own maps and mods on the consoles as we can on the PC's.

hmm not enough time to really articulate my thoughts cauz i have to run to class again but...

this is why i enjoy consoles:
    1. for the younger kids that i work with, many are growing up more console driven than pc. yes, many of us started on console but many switched over to pc especially because of online play but the fact the console are starting to have internet will change many people over imo. alot play the consoles because there is more variety than mostly fps/rts in the pc market. because of this growing trend in the younger generation below us, i see more families even playing consoles together. hell, my neighbors dad can put up a **** good fight in madden!

    2. of all my friends, i think i'm one of the only ones that even plays pc games. many of my friends do play consoles though for the fact that it's nice to gather around in one area and play together. so right out of the box consoles bring people together which makes for a better experience as well. plus, it's just easier to give someone a smile if you burned them in gran turismo than tell them u did over coms

    3. normally my female friends wouldn't touch a pc except for work or instant messengers. but they are glad to play consoles probably because of my 2nd reason.

as for pc snobs. note the only guys that gave you an intelligent response was the guys over at -P- who are always cool. that's becaues they are older and know where ur coming from since they are sponsored as well. particularly over at cal, remember that most likely that the average snobby forum troller is still in jr. or sr. high school. thus, the playground hierarchy mentality is still in place. wait till consoles begin to grow more and we'll see those people change. for snobbiness, the only viable arguement is that consoles stink at fps'ers because a lack of a keyboard/mouse. once those are addable options to a console then we should be good to go as a whole

I do have to agree with you liquid on the PC for FPS games. While I have been getting used to the consoles the freedom you get with the mouse and keyboard is nice. Aiming in particular is a lot easier to do, as well as looking around because of the free look you get with the mouse. Plus you are using a digital feed from the mouse, if you're using an optical or laser mouse, as opposed to the analog joysticks on the Xbox controllers, so there are some tradeoffs. But I am having fun none the less playing FPS games on the console. It's a new challenge for me to master.
