I'd just like to say that i love lockdown im one of the few. I finally got two of my friends back on the game. I was so happy, we where playing again.

THEN i swapped to team sharpshooter so my friends could get up some levels. Got a few people in and started to play (it was redlight) then an engineer joined and would just start laying mines everywhere, in the spawn but just far enough away so the respawn invun thingy had worn off. I thought it was just him so after asking him not to i kicked him when he started again. Then another one came in i thought i'd give him the benifit of doubt and let him play and again the mines where everywhere.
So he got the boot, by this time my mates had, had enough and gone on to different games.

Now im not gonna say that they shouldn't have them but there should be a limit (like Splinter cell). Or it should blow up there own team if friendly fire is on, a grenade just blows everyone up how does a proxy mine know the difference.

So guys i apologise until UBI do something about this im gonna kick every engineer that joins my room, its gonna take me about 2 weeks to convince my friends that Lockdown isn't as **** as they think it is.

No idea how this slipped past UBI. In other R6 games people would complain when a person only had one remote/claymore and camped. Now people can drop them everywhere and go camp. This sounds like a bad idea to me from the start. Why it is even possible to lay 100 mines in a match is beyond me.

i'd say that it should be two per engineer.

I won't go that far. 3-4 active mines at one time to me is reasonable with a maximum of say 12-16 max per 20 minute game. This is a "shooter" game, not a "glitch/mine to the point of stupidity" game. (I'd bring down the max on mines in shorter games.)

you get 5 seconds to of invulnerability to trigger the mines or chug a grenade and clean out all the bunched ones together. How was anyone able to spawn camp you in redlight with them?

Well... it's really easy. With an Engineer or two droping mines non-stop, Spec Ops/Commandos/Medisc throwing gernades/clays/smoke/gas/BULLETS even the best person/team can find themselves in for a hurting fast. Im not talking about squad/clan based games. In a mixed room/experiences you can't stop this no matter how good you are.

5 seconds of invulnerability has nothing to do with this post. "start laying mines everywhere, in the spawn but just far enough away so the respawn invun thingy had worn off" Invulnerability is useless against this. "chug a grenade"?? If you din't equip them or you ran out your out of luck? 5 seconds of invulnerability is fine IMHO (any more and you'd be able to shoot at each other while invulnerabe in the halls at Clinic.) **You can do this already through the windows

The truth of the matter is TWO to THREE engineers can take on EIGHT other class and win every time. This is done through tactics and the fact that each mine doesn't have to be remotely close to where they actually are. (Go to slow and you get taken down from behind. ) NO OTHER CLASS CAN CLAIM THIS!

To clarify: I have all the respect in the world for those honest Engineers. Its the one with cash and proxies to burn that make this game stupid for the rest of us.

I stand by my original post. This hasn't changed since the game came out. Care to justify 100 mines per game? It can be done by honest engineers. Do you think it is right for mines to take up 1/3 of the kills on a map? (This is only a one engineer example. Now think about TWO or THREE!)

    Hope this clears things up

Dude, mines placed by members of your team will have a green light over them which you can see, but the other team can't. You can safely walk over friendly mines without triggering them. As long as there's a green light, you're safe. The only time they can kill you is if you happen to get near one at the same time an enemy does and it detects him, or if you're a stupid dummyhead who simply throws gredades without regard to where they're going, which I doubt you are.

An engineers primary function is defense. Mines, turrets, keycards, firewalls, all part of being an engineer. It's poor sportsmanship to boot someone from a game who's actually playing by the rules Red Storm set for the game. Mines are used to keep track of choke points you can't be around to watch all the time during a match, thus they are a defensive tool, and a not a "cheap" way to get a few kills.

Finally, Only gamers who prefer royal clusterF**Ks as opposed to search and destroy use the word "camp" or "camper". Real soldiers call it "Ambushing" which is tactical and innevitable in real-life warfare. It's much more fun to hunt someone down than to run around the same corner going kill for kill each spawn. (Maybe one of the largest reasons people enjoy clinic so much. Mindless gerbils love to run around their wheel, just like simple minded gamers love running that circle day in and day out.) Whatever... Your issue here seems to be over balancing issues, so fine. You want to play a balanced game? Meet me on Farcry and we'll throw rocks at each other.

From an engineers stand point here, I have to say... I would love limited active mines! I'm one of those people that has a major urge to just lay down 10 proxies in a few deaths. Limiting them would help me control myself. As I am going for the Communications specialist medal right now, I play nothing but Total Conquest. To tell you the truth, this gametype is engineer-bait. I played a 16 man match on Village, and I was the only Engineer in that part *gasp*. I had one stradegy: Capture, Proxy, Firewall the satilites. Our team won around 10 matches straight before they kicked me cause I owned them so bad (I'm not bragging, they really booted me cause I was so good at TC) I also loved TC in Black Arrow. I sat next to one of our sat.s with a claymore pointing toward it, and me on the roof looking down. Then I got 3-4 kills with my FAMAS or PSG-1 if I was high enough up (Really, on TC and Retrieval, I'd sometimes bring a PSG with an SR-2) I think I have said enough, and gone completely off my original topic

Orion, he was doing it even before sharpshooter as you know.

Anyway, i have traded the game in now. It is just one of the most boring experiences I have had online. People used to say in old rainbows that proxy mines you could leave would be great. I always said it was wrong. I went to leave my spawn on Embassy. I knew there was a guy outside but I thought I would be brave, smash the door open and jump in. Well, i walked up to the door and boom. the proxies detect you through doors! How does that make any sense? I can't go around a map and ignore all dorrs just incase there is a proxy on the other side.

Absolutely ridiculous. Sort out the scopes, the darkness on most of the levels (use night vision! Well, no, I am a level 2 playing against level 40's with sensor jammers, what am I supposed to do?), the proxy mines (with most levels being the same colour as the mines), the hit detection (lord knows where my bullets are actually going while my recticule is red but it seems to be anywhere but my target), the luck rather than skill in a firefight element (i mean really, stars for accuracy? Either I can put the dot on the guys head or i can't, it shouldn't be down to how many stars I have) and I might come back. I doubt it but no-one cares anyway.

people say it gets better when you level up. that is not going to happen when playing team survival. I don't like sharpshooter, I like team survival but I go up about 2% in level every game. It takes too long and the game is too frustrating to be bothered to get to a high enough level where I can actually have some of that body armour or some more of those damage and accuracy skill points.

I could play regular games, not PEC right? Wrong. How can I do that when my friends like to play PEC?

Onion, I went onto original rainbow the next night for a bit of nostalgia. I got a cold sweat sat in a lobby witht he old school music playing. It built emotion and anticipation. I was reminded of long nights sat in front of my TV with all the old crew. Waiting to get the game going (sometimes with an angry launch, no more of that!) knowing that we had the teamwork and skill over the cocky guys we were playing against. No more sneaking up behind an opponent and getting your pistol out, seeing how long you can stand there and/or follow him before he starts to turn around and you shoot him down knowing full well that everyone in the lobby knows what is going on and having a **** good laugh. Can't do that now because the teams can't talk to each other but instead are stuck watching a player (who am I watching? i can't tell) in third person and can then tell their teammate that someone is behind them. Live players talking to dead players + The ability for the dead players to watch the live players back does not = a tactical game in my book. I rememebr a post by bullettooth on the rainbow six forum a year or so ago. he stated you would never see a knife in a rainbow game. Why? Because they never use them in the books. Bullet, you lied to us!

Its all gone out of the window. Lockdown is like roulette, a game of chance and whoever has the most credits to spend.
