Thread: Crashing after PC patch v1.01 | Forums

1. #1
I just installed the latest PC patch, and now my game keeps crashing! I didn't have a single Crash to desktop before the patch. I have installed the ATI hotfix driver and everything. Crashes happen at random times; once when quicksving, once when throwing a molotov.

Please fix it!

Also, once it has crashed, it crashes whilts loading, so I can't get into the game anymore. Crashes after showing the Far Cry 2 jpeg at the start. Anyone else get this? I am fairly sure it is since the patch.

One idea i have heard is to unistall all aspects and patches of FC2 (safe mode was suggested to complete the unistall). Prior to reinstalling block the update from running via your firewall.

Be sure to back up your previous saves before uninstall.

Are you sure it's even supposed to work with old saves? Have you tried starting a new game? Also, sometimes devs say a patch will work with old saves and it doesn't, as is the case with Stalker: Clear Sky.

I don't remember seeing anything in the patch notes regarding 1.01 not working with old saves. Previous saves have worked fine on both of the computers I have the game installed on.

Hmmm, I ended two processes called "PnkbstrA" and "PnkbstrB" or something like that and now I just played 2 hours without a crash. Random...

From what i have heard this is the solution to the bugs with the patch (this is considering you aren't using a pirate copy)

After you DL the new patch (v1.01) you will need to restart your comp. Then proceed to your video card manufacturer's site and DL the hotfix. You can search for it specifically. The fix that was included in the new patch doesn't work right.

Also you can reinstall and play one player with your firewall set to max settings (basically prompt for access, which will disable the patch update). Otherwise unplug your internet connection.

*Good advice above, but no need to discuss the part I just deleted.* Thanks - Coops

Crashing after patch? tada!! Yes, I'm crashing to desktop as well. The solution?(for me anyway) is to run the game in DX9 mode. Ever since the game has been running smoothly. I'm running with a quad core, 4 gigs of ram, and a HD4870x2 at 1920x1200 so I was uber geeked to run DX10 but you know what? DX9 looks just as good(which is not saying much).
Ubisoft really dropped the ball with this supposed DX10 title, making gamers bang their heads against a proverbial wall in frustration, shame on you Ubisoft.
