Thread: where is Post Processing/HDR lighting on PC ? | Forums

  1. #1
as the topic said, there is something wrong with the lighting in the PC Version of Driver SF. it seems that post processing and HDR lighting on pc is disabled, result is this strange graphics you can see below on the upper image and in the comparison videos further below. the top image is from PC the image below from Console. on Console it looks sunny, on PC it looks cloudy like it would rain soon. but the sharp shadows don't fit with these dimmed lighting. also the sepia 70s tint from the consoles is missing on PC ...

here are two videos that show the difference between console and PC, look at 1:50 min where the gameplay starts ...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlZ8x_B0Cq4

or look here at time index 55 sek, the shadows are extremely dark. look at time index 5:31 it looks ridiculous like a gam from the year 2000.

or look at these screenshots, they look so ugly ...

why the hell the PC Version have such a bad graphics ? if i look at gameplay videos from consoles it looks so much more better, is this a bug or on purpose ?

"Bad Graphics." Way back then, it was nice when graphics didn't matter as much as they do today.

you're missing the point entirely. the game's graphics aren't anything special to begin with, considering it was made for 6 year old hardware. but that's alright, nobody's complaining about that.

the point is that the PC port seems to be incomplete. it's missing considerable post processing/lighting effects from the console version. this is inacceptable.

they delayed the PC version, and for what? they didn't even manage to port the game 1:1?!?

@OP: yes, the game looks like the top screenshot for me as well (on a 5870).

I was thinking the same thing, glad it wasn't just me that noticed. All the screens i've seen from steam or ubi have a bloom effect or HDR going on but its not in the game. I have tried the ENB mod and it didn't work for me.

Same issue here. The game just looks way too dark, especially in the shadows.

I noticed this too. Hope they release a patch that fixes this, among other things.

I guess there is a problem with the HDR used, getting in conflicts with Anti Aliasing maybe.

+1 to the petition for HDR lighting.

Is this game running on a proprietary engine? It seems very similar to both TDU and Crashtime (don't know if they share the engine).

TDU also has somewhat similar "darkness" issue when HDR is disabled.

No, the whole game engine is build from ground up, duh.

BUMP! I'm totally behind this, it makes the game look incomplete AND it messes with continuity when during cutscenes it changes from ingame to pre-rendered video, we need ubi to fix it ASAP or at least get someone working on a mod to activate it since it looks as if in some scenes the post process still works (when you shift high enough or you detail the animation when the camera is shifting towards the car you can still notice the brownish tint in the graphics)
