I've got problems with high alt attacks, they just release the bombs and carry on.
How far apart does the GAttack and previous waypoint have to be?
Is there a minimum alt, a la Stuka?
Is there a maximum alt?
Does the loadout affect it, i.e can you really divebomb with a bomb bay full of SC50s?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

I got Ju~88s to dive bomb ships. But you gotta SET the waypoint to groundattack. Click the SET button, move your mouse circle on the target icon, and click.
Minimum altitude is stated to be 1500m or so. I got Ju88s to dive straight down on ships from 5000m. An amazing sight.

Aha, just what I was trying to do.
Do you put the GAttack waypoint right above the target, and at 5000m? I had set the target but they wouldn't roll over, just dropped their bombs and left. What alt did you put for the WP after GAttack and does it make a difference to the height that they release their bombs?
Cheers!

If you place the Gattack waypoint directly over the target, they level bomb. You need to set it away from the target and use the green cross hair to set the target. As for the WP after it doesn't matter, if it's the same as the Gattack WP they'll climb back up. I have found they seem to be more accurate if you go a couple thousand meters above the minimum as it gives them more time to aim. They also seem to have more trouble hitting a ship than they do other targets.

Thanks guys, it's now sorted.
For the record:
Target: a moving ship. Loadout: external bombs.
1st Waypoint: Normfly. 10 km before target. Height 5000m.
2nd Waypoint: Ground Attack. 1km before target. Height 5000m. Target fixed using Set and green marker.
3rd Waypoint: Normfly. 180 degrees to line of flight, i.e. reciprocal course. Height 500m.
Whether a single a/c or a flight, they now roll over and scream down to attack the ship. They appear to release their bombs at about 1500m. After bombing they are facing the way that they came, so setting the next WP on a reciprocal course stops them circling about over the target. Instead they clear off straightaway. They're pretty accurate and mostly hit the target.* See Edit

Edit: Just run some loadout tests. Not too scientific I'm afraid.
Flight of 4 planes, WPs as above. All a/c set to Average.
Loadout and effect:-
28xSC-50: no hits
28xSC-50 and 2xSC-250: 3 hits. Ship sunk.
18xSC-50 and 2xSC-250: 2 hits. Ship sunk.
10xSC-50: 1 hit. Ship undamaged.
10xSC-50 and 2xSC-250: no hits.
4xSC-250: 3 hits. Ship sunk.
2xSC-500: 1 hit. Ship sunk.
Conclusions, for what they are worth.
Ju88s will divebomb with both internal & external loads.
External loadouts are likely to be more accurate.
SC-250 and 500 will sink a ship with only one hit.
SC-50 need more than one hit or are ineffective against ships.
Use external loadout if you want to sink things, use internal if all you require is pretty splashes.
Cheers!

Also dive bombers that go vertical against ships...
Pe~2
Ju~87
Never could get Tu~2 into steep nose down dive.

I may be just guessing, but try setting a waypoint at 5000m,and right near it put one at 1500m, with the GAttack target.
Might work.
