Perhaps a developer might be able to answer this... I've been hearing alot about this SPEEDTREE - IDV INC., will GRIN be using something similar? I think this might have some advantages when creating realistic immersive environments.

I am really hoping for some really immersive realistic environments. Like hiding in a bush or tall grass and not hardly being able to be seen.

I would also like to see a realistic and immersive environment provided it is not at the cost of gameplay.

Lots of real life elements and happenings, like the window being closed in the E3 video and birds fluttering and sitting on buildings, would create immersion but I would only want this if the events are not triggered and does not happen at the same place, everytime we play.

A realistic living world is always welcome provided hardware limitations are not an impediment.

    hmm..that's really nice..
however since gr3 is urban warfare..i doubt we'll be seeing a lot of trees in the game..
    maybe thy'll have a mix...who knows..

A great and realistic looking environment is totally useless if we cannot interact with it.

We should be able to take cover (not like in those pathetic bushes in GR1), climb up trees, rocks, hills and cross deep rivers. I mean, what kind of a special force operator coudn't cross a river or step onto a small log sitting on the ground!??

Not to mention that ubber indestructible environment, it looked like we either had airsoft guns or everything was bullet proofed against heavy weapons. We couldn't pierce a freaking wall, a car windshield or a treelog with a .50 BMG caliber!
Hello! Get some real ballistic data will ya!!

Devs need to acknowledge that ASAP.

I agree. Interaction with the environment is very important for immersion.

In urban warfare, when on a night mission, I would like to shoot out the street and car lights and use NV gogles. I would like to push boxes and crates to a more advantageous position and use them for cover etc.

I hear ya, we've been playing an FPS that has all that. I can't tell ya how many times someone has jumped out of a bush and wasted me. That and being shot thru wood fences on one map.

at the same time there has to be a way for the player to better see through the follage when they are hidden in it. Because of our binocular vision a single leaf does not block our view totally. I'd love to see a level of transprancy of leaves and grass as you get close to them to mimick the fact that we would see past it in real life.

I remember posting a thread about speedtree long time ago when GR2 was suposedly being build for PC, everyone said it wasnt impressive, sucked, etc. Now everyone loves it because the media said its great.

I say dump Mexico city's futuristic cqb and give us some nicely foliated terrains, valeys, forests, jungles, swamps, you know.. the good stuff. Some urban maps are fine but for the most woodland is always better.

I don't care if it is speedtree, I just want to be able to blend in with the foilage and the environment, thats why soldiers wear camo.
Play creekbed against the AI and hide in a bush, they walk all over you and don't see you,you can pick them off point blank and they still don't get it, man are they dumb. Smarter AI also....... yeah, that's another thing I would like to see.
    Urban andwoodland maps, I agree.
