One more question...I am getting closer...Do you use the hdmi cable for video and the rca/composite cable for the audio. What do you tell the ps3 in the video and audio setup screens?

Hey, I dont have a PS# but you ar correct about the HDMI for video and RCA for Audio. I believe there is an audio setup in the PS3 for duel audio outputs. What do you tell the ps3 in the video and audio setup screens

I'm bumping this to keep it visible. Ubisoft should sticky this post!
I dont know if anyone here posted this but you can get an analog adapter for xb360 so you can run HDMI video with analog (RCA) audio and help your lag. Cheapest price here

Here's what I had to do. In order to use Rocksmith with minimal lag...I use HDMI and the RCA composite video outputs. I turn off the ps3 and then turn it on by holding it down the on/off button for 6-7 seconds...that switches it to the composite mode and I then follow the instructions on the screen. When I want to switch back to HDMI, shutdown then restart and auto detect will get you back to the HDMI output...sucks...alittle time consuming but it works.
a great post worthy of repeating
So the lag is supposed to be there? I mean, I have audio lag but it's barely noticeable..until you start playing fast. It's like a half second delay.. not much of a delay but it's annoying me. When I play a random scale really fast, the sound is delayed so it messes me up.. Oh well. I guess I'll have to deal with it.
Why are electronics so difficult? Why can't they be simple and just work perfectly?
A half second of delay is a lifetime in a rhythm game. Even 1/4 of a second (250 ms) is huge.
If properly configured, you should barely be able to tell there is any delay at all. Half a second is very pronounced lag, and usually indicates that you're using either a) HDMI or optical cables instead of analog connections b) your TV's speakers c) sound processing modes (or DSP) on your receiver.
Try just using analog connections to some sort of cheap speaker system like computer speakers, iPod base, portable stereo, or even a guitar amp. Just for testing purposes...I'm guessing you'll get significantly reduced lag.
People really underestimate how much delay their stereo receivers and TVs can inflict on their audio.
Tons of info here, thank you! I ordered Rocksmith for xbox 360 slim a couple days ago. I want to be prepared when it arrives so it will be fun when it gets here. My xbox is connected to an Onkyo reciever with an HDMI cable for video and an optical audio cable, both to the reciever. The reciever then goes to our Panasonic HDTV with an HDMI. As it is now, I am using the "DVD" part of the reciever as I also use the xbox to watch DVD's. Should I order an adaptor ahead of time to hook the audio up or might I be okay because I'm going through a newer Onkyo reciever rather than directly to the TV? I don't want to sacrifice sound or video and really don't want it to be a major inconvenience when we play the game. I'm just trying to be prepared. Thanks for your help!![]()
While lag may be on my end to a degree, while playing RB or GH I was able to leave all settings on default and got NO LAG. Now with RS I'm getting noticeable lag. Not game-breaking but annoying enough to tick me off. Red/white cables and turning on "game mode" on my Panasonic Plasma do not help either.
I currently have my receiver (mid-range Sony) put away since I can't really use it to it's full effect anyway since I have kids now...but I may have to try hooking that up.
