    Hi Mad Gooze

Have a look here mate and let me know if any thing helps, try the Quad Core Short Cut Fix first

    http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...1051016/m/6001094068

No, that doesn`t help. But thanks anyway.

This start-up Crash with AC2.exe, has Nothing to do with playing the game on 2 CPU cores. AC2 runs absolutely fine on Dual/Quad Core CPUs. This is an OS error, the cause of which can be DEP (Data Execution Prevention), Buffer Overflow, VC++, Copy protection etc.

I already told gamers to try the 'Core Affinity' stuff long back, but it does Not help for AC2.

    @MAD_GooZe,

Can you currently play OTHER PC games on this computer/OS ?

Which version of the game do you have, Retail, STEAM etc.? Have you done ALL the Windows OS updates, along with VC++ runtime, .NET, Java, and other OS Codec Packages ? Is UAC (User Account Control) turned ON or OFF under Windows ?? First reinstall the VC++ runtime redistributable, and then check the Game's performance. You can remove them afterwards. Also reset the BIOS settings to default, and do NOT Overclock any System components (GPU/CPU/RAM).

Reinstall the Game again, but choose a different path/Drive location. But first delete/remove all game entries from your drive, as well as the Registry. How are you actually Launching the Game, by clicking on AC2.exe, or via the shortcut ?? Also Disable/Turn OFF UAC under Windows 7, and try adding AC2.exe to DEP's exclusion list.

The Crash info is in Russian, but after translation, I'm getting this ''The name of the module with the error: MSVCR90.dll''.

    KingDaniel0,

nothing of that helps. Really strange, on WinXP everything worked perfectly

Hmmm.... The game should work fine even on WIN 7, with the same CPU/GPU.

This error is an OS issue. Is it a FRESH install of Windows 7 ? And can you currently play OTHER PC games on this computer/OS ? Do you have a RETAIL copy of AC2, or you downloaded it from STEAM ??

OK. Well, that's strange if only AC2 crashes on your system. The game's DVD must also be having the VC++ package, but first Try 'removing' the VC++ Runtime files from your system.

Have you done a Fresh/Clean install of the game again ? *Just give me some time. I will get Back to you later on. I will look into this again*. I'm unable to concentrate now.

BTW, When does the game actually crash ? Starting a NEW Story, between a Gameplay, or whilst Online Saving ?? Don't use any NO DVD Cracks/Server emulator to launch/play the game. The GeForce 9800GX2 card, shouldn't cause this crash either. But one guy was facing random CTDs while gaming on this same card, but that's a coincidence:

/* On a side note, if you happen to play AC2, disable VSync and Multisampling at the in-game Options. Make sure they are Off, and the Game settings don't 'conflict' with Nvidia's Control Panel. All the NVidia CP settings should be first set to, Application-controlled.

I too am having issues with crashing on Windows 7, but it isn't early on (well that happened once I think) but totally random. Hubby is a computer buff and he can't figure it out either.

Could the update have caused this issue? I too purchased the game and am playing with the DVD, other games work fine. I have a Nvidia 7950 GT graphics card. I will crash sometimes as often as every 5 minutes (my monitor will flash off then come back) or go as long as an hour.

Do you also get the SAME crash error as the OP, or something else ? Also monitor your Graphics card, and check for any Overheating signs. You can also look under the Windows 'Event Viewer', to get some clue/info.

What are your other PC specs ?? I'm not aware of any OS update, which can cause instability.
