Thread: FM-2 VOC-1 USS Wake Island | Forums

  1. #1
This Wildcat is based on the Confederate Force’s restored FM-2.
These authentic markings represent the colours of the little publicised VOC-1 who flew from the carriers USS Wake Island (CVE-65) and USS Marcus Island (CVE-77).
This aircraft would have been present at both the Iwo Jima and Okinawa invasions back in 1944.
These units performed as navel gunfire spotters, flying almost continually over the islands and relaying information back to the Navy’s battleships and cruisers.
Never the less, this unit still managed to down 20 Japanese aircraft, placing the unit 4th in the overall FM-2 kill rankings.

I’ve included some numbered versions and a weathered to depict what this aircraft might have looked like in action. (5 skins in all).

Can be found at Flying Legends-----> http://www.flying-legends.net/php/do...php?cat_id=150
