I used to be the biggest SC fan. I remember when SC1 came out, I got it for christmas that year along with an xbox from my brother. I LOVED it, and promptly got SCPT, and fell in love with the multiplayer aspect. My nights were fondly spent breaking necks and mowing down spies in the hospital, warehouse, the movie theatre, and vertigo, thinking how anything could top the gameplay of SvM. Then came SCCT, which I preordered and got 2-3 days earlier than the release date. I still play SCCT, and in fact, it's in my xbox360 as I type this. It's definately the best online game I have ever played, especially in a market that is filled with same-same first person shooters. I was excited about SCDA since I was going to be the first SC on the 360, but I came to find out it was a huge let down. They destroyed SvM.
Now it's the present, and if you would have told my old self that I would have lost all interest in the series I would have laughed in your face. But sadly, I have. From the looks of it there isn't going to be a SvM worth a crap in this game either, and that's the only thing that has kept me a fan for the so many years since SCPT arrived on shelves. Some of you hated it, but the people who made SC what it was back in the day were the people who couldn't get enough of SvM.
I have no plans of preordering this game, nor do I even plan on buying it. The best this game will get from me is a rental from Gamefly, which is really sad. The Ubi company itself is mostly to blame. After games upon games being released and never being patched correctly I've gotten tired of having them abandon their community once I pay for their game. SCCT still to this day has gamebreaking glitches in it (green lines around the spies in camo, the rail glitch, etc), and that is just unacceptable.
Then you have their way of never interacting with their community. Look at Gears Of War, wonder why they are so successful? Because they listen to their fans, they make the games FOR their fans, and they patch their games. If a diehard fan like myself can lose faith in a company that brought the best online experience I've known, then it will only be a short ammount of time before the rest of the world does so too, and Ubi will have no one to blame but themselves.
For those of you looking forward to this game I hope your expectations are met, but as for me and people like me the SC series died at it's peak with SCCT.
